The Big Questions: Is the Bible Still Relevant Today
Here’s an interesting debate I’ve watched recently. (Yet was around for some months)

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dFpCY...eature=related

As I was listening, I couldn’t help but see how completely off these learned people were concerning what the Bible teaches. For instance, the story concerning Lot and how they talked about what morals could we learn from him. Firstly, the reason why the Bible called Lot righteous has nothing to do with what Lot did as a person. It’s because of his belief in God. Lot trust God, and it was because of this trust, he recognized the two angels, and offered them a place to stay the night versus staying out in the open in a wicked place.

Does the Bible call Lot righteous for offering his daughters to a pack of raving men? No! In fact, where in Scripture does it state that God approved of Lot offering his daughters? In fact, where in Scripture does it say God approved of most of the bad things the people of Israel did? Is it not stated that everyone has turned from God, and that no one is righteous? Yet as it is said of Abraham, and those like him, righteousness was accounted to him because he believed God. Lot believed God, and because of his belief in God, he probably tried to talk to the people of Sodom often about treating people right. (Because the people accused Lot of trying to be a judge over them.) So there you have it about why the Bible called Lot righteous. I am saddened that all of the Christians on this video lacked this knowledge concerning Lot.

Another thing I found interesting was how at the beginning of part one; the historian said most of the things in the Bible are not historical. She then said Moses and David didn’t exist. As far as that go, most people said the same things about Jesus, Pilate, and other Biblical people and sites. Then after a few years of digging, we find evidence that they indeed existed. Very soon, I believe evidence of the exodus out of Egypt will be uncovered. It’s just hard to excavate certain areas because those nations won’t allow outsiders to come into their nations just like that.

There’s some more things I want to discuss about the video, but I want to hear some other takes on it.

I wouldn't pay too much attention to those who have their own agendas. Faith is a personal thing.

What is comforting to believers though is that Scripture has been argued over even since it's inception. At least people are interested enough in the Word of God to read it and argue over it. It raises passions, such is it's power.

As it goes, I think I can relate to "Do not murder." It just makes sense.
