Re: Portsmouth Applicants 2012aah okay! Thank you(Original post by conniebee)
Langstone's the only one where you can bring a car I believe. I had my car brought down a couple of weeks after moving in. It's £50 for the permit, which runs from Sept-June. You're not guaranteed a space, but I never had a problem parking at all throughout the year. -
Re: Portsmouth Applicants 2012just did this(Original post by xXedixXx)
F.y.i.
If you haven't got your accommodation confirmation letter you can call them up. I just did, and asked if my letter had been sent; they said no it hadn't been sent but my application had been processed and had been successfully; meaning I got my preferred choice (Langstone, en suite, self catered). So I assume anyone can just phone up if you want to know about your accommodation before your letter arrives. The only details I don't know until the letter arrives is which flat I've been given.
although she couldn't tell me where, but that i have got a place in halls! and by my wonderful powers of deduction i know it's somewhere in guildhall because i didn't even preference the other two areas!
also, to anyone wondering, she said that they've only sent out like 300 letters so far, and they have 3000 still to send in batches

Welcome to Pompey boys and girls =]
Haha... Its not all bad, honest.
Key to enjoying Portsmouth is spending as much time in Gunwharf and Old Portsmouth as possible, and trying to avoid the rest! -

Nope, no wifi, just wires.
Internet is good though, well in JW anyway.
Wifi in the library and uni buildings, such as Park.
My phone will be useless
Are allowed to add a wireless router or something? -
Re: Portsmouth Applicants 2012no worse than other parts of the uk I would say(Original post by 321zero)

Re: Portsmouth Applicants 2012No wifi, there's wires which run from the wall to your laptop which you plug in. I hope they leave a handier note explaining how to get online than when I went last September, I couldn't understand it all.
However my flat had wifi cos we snuck in a router and hid it
Ps. I was led to believe that they were trying to get wifi installed for the halls, so who knows if it's true or not. -
Re: Portsmouth Applicants 2012Because I'll probably be deferring another year. Got a very well paid job and it's the same industry as my course and what I want my career to be.(Original post by ironandwine)
why?
I want to keep it up for a year to get a good reference from them and a shed load of money. So my chances of getting a job in Toronto, for my sandwich year will be more likely. Making it easier to emigrate in the long term.
