    Operating Department Practice 2012 intake...
I'm currently applying to Cardiff Uni for the DipHE in ODP starting in 2012 and was just wondering if anyone else here is looking into this too? I have a BA in English with Gender already, but I'm looking to do something I'm really passionate about.

As I'm already 24 I'm feeling a bit nervous about going back to Uni with all the youngsters so it would be great to maybe get to know a couple of people before term starts (if I get accepted of course!)

Where is the interview Reebz? All slightly different I have found. Usually maths and english test and then group discussion and or one to one interviews. Sometimes someone from the healthcare trust is on the interview panel.

Thanks I have also found out that I've got an interview on the 20th Feb, which I'm quite nervous about. I REALLY want to do it, so I'm keeping everything crossed!

I am visiting Prince Charles hospital tomorrow for the day to shadow some people doing it already, so that I can discuss it at interview.

    Good luck to you too!!

Re: Operating Department Practice 2012 intake...
So I had my ODP interview at Cardiff today - it went okay I guess. Some good, some bad. For anyone wondering what they asked:

    1. Information was pulled from my personal statement regarding jobs and previous study etc, which was the easy part!

    2. Why did I want to study ODP at Cardiff?

    3. What are the responsibilities of an ODP?

4.What research have I done into the role?

They were the main things - to be honest a lot of it is a blur now! Hope this helps, and good luck if you haven't had your interviews yet

    hey guys,
I'm 22 and I've applied for odp at uclan, edgehill, sheffield hallam, and birmingham city, i hope if I get on I'm not the only one that's older
and I have an interview/selection process at uclan coming up. I'm so nervous could anyone give me any tips on what to expect and what questions I would possibly have to answer.

    thanks

Hey, i've applied to Edge Hill and Uclan too, already had my Edge Hill interview, and got my Uclan one in march. When is your Uclan interview?
Also i'm 24 but I think quite a lot of people who apply are mature students so I wouldn't worry about being the eldest there

I've applied at Caledonian Uni in Glasgow

Not heard anything back yet but hear its pretty tough to get in.
Last year I knew a 2nd year Nursing student who applied and got an unsuccessful. I'm guessing they were just bombarded with applicants and took the best of the best! Will be gutted if that happens to me though.

My uclan one is the 21st, so you'll have to let me know how it goes. Really really want to get in to uclan. Its my last interview so can use the others as practice ones so hopefully will give a good interview at uclan.

My edge hill interview was ok, did maths and english tests which were fine, then had the interview. They asked things such as why do you want to go to edge hill, describe one of the three phases, describe your knowledge of the programme (so make sure u pretty much memorise all of the modules that you would be doing in the course), how you would deal with an anxious patient. I cant remember what else but hope this helps

thanks that's great help, I think I'm going to have to write it all on my arm haha. I really want to get into uclan as well because I only live round the corner so it would be ideal. I don't know what the modules are, do you know if they're on the uclan website. I have an interview for Sheffield but I can't get the time off work so I can't go

I dont think they are on the website, so maybe they wouldnt ask about it. But could they maybe be similar to the edge hill modules because they are both degrees arent they?!

I have one at Teesside on Monday. Got an unsuccessful from edge hill so its kind of knocked my confidence a bit

Passed interview at Cardiff uni for ODP on the 20/02/2012. Got to go back this Monday the 12th March for psychometric testing. How did you get on Pinksheep? you through to psychometric testing? Already have a conditional from Bournemouth uni but Cardiff seems the place to be.

Sorry for the late, reply - I haven't logged on since! Some parts of the interview went well, others not so well. I guess I panicked when I was answering a question and remembered there were four professionals listening to what I was saying!

Well, I passed the interview I have psychometric testing tomorrow, but when I went to the Open Day back in January, they said they'd aim to let applicants know whether or not they were successful by March 31st? I don't know if this is still the case however!

    How did you get on?

    Hey Rygo, congratulations!

I also made it through the interview and have to go to the psychometric testing stage tomorrow! Not too worried about that though - for me the interview was the worst part! May see you there haha.

Well done on Bournemouth aswell I only applied to Cardiff - as I'll be a mature student, I'm too old to up sticks now

    Good luck for tomorrow!

    Jess
