I've decided to join the website in the hopes that someone will have an invite for me. Currently a 3rd year medic with nothing better to do...ok well, thats a lie but dota 2 calls!

Well, hopefully not in this thread.

One way to get on the list is to sign up via the survey. http://blog.dota2.com/2011/10/the-sl...-dragon-wakes/

Everyone who gets selected for a beta key gets 2 extra invites to send out to whomever.

and if u have an old(at least 1 month I think) playdota acc, you should also post in this thread http://www.playdota.com/forums/54907...beta-key-draw/ and join the beta key give away draw.

just relax. play dota until the full dota2 release and then enjoy the 'new' game.

i don't think there is much of a battle. dota has way bigger playerbase than any of the other 2 games. In fact, its the most played fun map in the world.
In addition, dota 2 is only in its beta and the competitive side of it is already bigger than in lol.

yeah there doesnt seem to be a contest really.. an invite-only beta has 30,000 players online consistently atm for dota which is still increasing, while hon is averaging about 40,000

Have you managed to get a key? Do you know when they will officially release the game?
