What decade was your favourite film released in?
Whether you think cinema died with Hitchcock or only got good once Michael Bay started blowing up helicopters, this is the place where moving pictures are discussed.

What decade was your favourite film released in?
Was having a ludicrous debate with some of my friends about how they consider 'older' films to be rubbish and can't stand to watch stuff pre late eighties. So which decade was the film you consider to be your very favourite released? Will be interesting to see which comes out on top.
1970s for me. The Rocky Horror Picture Show.

Re: What decade was your favourite film released in?There's so many films that I value as equally amazing from different decades, but I'd have to pick the 90's just because there were so many in that decade. Shawshank, Titanic, Pulp Fiction, Goodfellas, The Matrix, Silence of the Lambs, Leon, Memento, Se7en, and so many more!(Original post by aja89)

Re: What decade was your favourite film released in?Same here, although I realised roughly my top five films all come from the nineties as well.(Original post by belligerent ghoul)

1960 - The Apartment. The 40's is my favourite era though - Citizen Kane, The Lost Weekend, The Philadelphia Story, Casablanca... It was amazing. It's a shame people of our generation have stopped watching older films - they're really missing out. With music, people have tended to embrace stuff from previous generations and criticise recent stuff but it hasn't happened with film.

Hmm I don't have one favourite but I think there are great films from all those decades. I picked the 70s for Rocky Horror, but I could easily have said the 80s, 90s for most comedies. 2000s...well Lord of the Rings, Chicago, Team America. As for the earlier years I love 50s and 60s for Audrey Hepburn.

I loved the 90's films, especially those cheesy channel 5 action movies that came on sundays, i was young so don't take it up against me :P. As i've grown older, i've seen great movies from this period including pulp fiction, fight club, the usual suspects etc.
The 2000's would have to be my choice though as films such as memento, donnie darko, motorcycle dairies and into the wild came into the frame.
