Who actually remembered not to eat meat last Friday? I forgot :'(
Supposed to be no meat last Friday? I may have had a chicken burger for my dinner

I should really unsub from this thread, I really don't count as a Catholic these days.

I remembered. It's sometimes quite a challenge trying to find something that's not meat to eat :yep:

Why do you not count as a Catholic these days? Do you no longer believe?

I had chicken on Friday night :getmecoat:

Anyone else seen this BBC magazine article?

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-14944470

Is this really what people think of religion as nowadays? It makes me really sad that this is the sort of thinking we have to battle against. I honestly much prefer Dawkins and his ilk, in a sense they show more respect to religion by arguing against its truth claims than just claiming religion is merely a 'way of life'.

    Any thoughts?

Christ told us we would be persecuted and this reminds us of something; the Church grows because of the fertility the blood of martyres spilt out. When people attack us in the way they do it suddenly means that a line has been chosen and people have to start choosing sides, they can't sit on the edge any more. This means the Church becomes tougher, more Orthodox (as it naturally clings to and defends its beliefs when they come under attack) and when people have to choose some will choose the Church. What's more the other denominations will see the Catholic Church standing bravely and will come around and support it, ironically I think atheism will bring Christian unity about. All the young Catholics I've met, though modern, are Orthodox about things like contraception, what does this mean? It means they're going to be having lots of children and passing the faith to them. A next generation to fight. What's more our enemies belong to the pro death group who are all aborting their own children and only having one each. So if every secular couple has on average 1.5 children and every Catholic couple has an average of 5 we'll outbreed them in 60 years

Considering there is no proof god exists you cant' really be hypocrital about someone *claiming* religion is a way of life.

I won't apply for it myself. If someone were to nominate me and then they offered it to me that's be a different matter.

I know it wasn't a hint: what I meant was I was hoping you'd say something like that so that I'd know you wouldn't mind if I nominated you

I don't like the responsibility involved with being a mod. You have to behave yourself and keep an eye on everyone. The temptation to delete posts saying "God doesn't exist" on threads where the OP clearly believes in God/is agnostic would be far too tempting :yep:

Did you see my post on the Christian thread about the mystery plays I went to last night? I can't make up my mind about what me getting Judas' blood money is. I think it's a sign but I don't know of what :ninja:

I've been a good boy (no warnings) since I started becoming a Catholic

I remember reading something about 10p pieces but was probably half asleep or reading another article when I read it. Can you post again

I've just come back from seeing The Globe Mysteries at the Globe Theatre in London. The choice of mysteries was somewhat intriguing (no Moses. I would have liked to have seen that!) and some scenes were entirely inaccurate or rearranged. So it wasn't a sacred play cycle and it didn't move me religiously. That said it was great fun and I'd recommend anyone in or near London to go and see it :yep:

Pilate handed me Judas' blood money: three 10p coins. I've kept them safe in my rosary box as a souvenir I also managed to be on God's right hand side for the end of the world :awesome:

That's what I wrote yesterday. The reason I'm intrigued and thinking it's a sign is because this is the second time I've been involved in that scene in a Passion play. In the ones I did in Oxford, I was Barrabas

Ooh sounds good. Now I'm living in a city hopefully I'll be able to find stuff like that :yep:

Interesting thing about Barrabas, his first name was Jesus and Barrabas actually means "son of the Father". So he was actually called "Jesus Son of the Father". Pope Benedict (I learnt this from his book) also wrote how the language used actually implies he's not just a criminal, but a revolutionary leader, so the contrasting views are Jesus talking about a seemingly far off Kingdom of Heaven and this other Jesus trying to build heaven on earth. The anaylsis used in this chapter by the Holy Father is truly amazing. And I think it's only in Chapter 2 :awesome:

No, I do (anyone who knew me would find it very odd that I do, but I really do)

I am an awful person however (just in general, not limited to religious failings) & am too narcissistic & **** to consider atoning for my multitude of sins.

In truth it's practically an insult to the lot of you to call myself a Catholic.

Sorry for the rant, I'll probably delete it later after obsessing about it for a while.

See actually your opening statement shows to me someone who has the makings of a saint. How do we become saints, by admitting our own inequity, what you've just done, in a very honest way. So it's not an insult at all

I'm with Adam here. You know your faults and admit to them. So many people don't ever actually get to that stage :hugs:
