Heard back today that I got an unconditional offer. Now to wait to hear back re: AHRC funding and other funding sources...

Congratulations! Any idea when AHRC scholarships are announced?

Congratulations! I applied for the same course. Yet to receive any news though. When did you submit your application?

Thanks! I applied on Feb 7th I think... and heard back over 2 weeks later. When did you apply? Hope you hear back soon!

I applied on Feb 7th too. I'm getting a bit impatient now. Hopefully, they'll reply soon.

It looks like it's April at some point, probably... as best I can make out from their website, anyway...

The convenor for the Early Modern course told me that the meeting to decide funding will happen some time mid- to late March; so I reckon from then onwards will be when they would be sending out funding letters. Though how many letters is another question. :s-smilie: Does anyone know how many funded Master's positions there are for History this year? (QMHistoryguy: are you applying for the MA or the PhD?)

As I understand it, there aren't a set number of funded Master's positions, they have a set budget that they then allocate as they choose...

Yes, but I think that most universities generally decide that in advance of making funding decisions - at least all the other universities I'm applying to have a set number of funded doctoral places and funded master's places, at least in terms of AHRC funding.

I'm sure there used to be a rather apt "shrug" emoticon on TSR but I can't find it now! :frown:

Well there's approximately 14 masters places funded across Arts + Humanities?

I don't think the AHRC funding gets announced till late May/early June based on the FAQs on their website :frown: apparently they let you know in late March/early April if you're ineligible for funding, and then they let you know in May if you're lucky.

No idea how they actually decide to allocate it though, especially with the taught masters funding... I guess they just look at marks and quality of the personal statement?

Applied for History (MRes) around two weeks ago & am currently sitting around biting my nails & checking my email every five seconds (no exaggeration).

Then there's the added stress of getting funding even if I do get accepted...

I'm almost hoping that I don't get in just to avoid that second wave of stress! haha

Hello there, any1 for MSc Robotics (2012) at King's ?

Hi guys.

Is it true that there is a "cooling off" period for deposits? I.e. If you decide you want your deposit back, you have 10 days in which to claim it back?

Edit - Trawled through the website. It appears that this is indeed the case.

Anyone know about how long it might take for King's to respond back with graduate funding information?

Just submitted my forms before the deadline last week.

If it's AHRC, they apparently start getting back to people around April time, but can take longer to finalise the list...not sure about other funding tbh!
Hey guys!

Just got my offer from Kings for the LLM course. I'll be specialising in International Financial Law. The offer is for a conditional 65% average for all years of study for anyone that wants to know. I have also spoken to them about it and if you get a high first in your final year they may take it down a per cent or two (to balance out some of my 2:2's :P)
Just thought I’d say hi seeing as some of us are looking to go to the same university next year

GOODLUCK everyone!!

Hi!
Well was very excited about attending KCL Dept. of War Studies for MA in International Relations but LSE threw me for a loop and (while previously rejecting me for MSc International Relations) sent me an offer today for MSc in "Theory and History of International Relations." The course seems similar to me - any advice/suggestions? U.S. Student and mainly concerned with finding a job afterwards... price difference really isn't much between the two programs so anyone who may be considering both PLEASE give me some advice-have only a few weeks to make up my mind. Thanks!

In a similar situation I would choose war studies over theory and history of international relations. The latter, as the name and course structure suggests is a mix between international history and international relations.

The best thing to do is phone the department in LSE ask them what graduates from that course do.
