Have 5 offers! Now which two do I pick?
Hey,
I hope to study History next year and have just received my fifth offer!!! I was hoping for some opinions on which university to go to (or which to not). I know in the end, it's down to me, but I've visited them all (bar Southampton) and they all seem great... The Uni's are: Sheffield, Southampton, Lancaster, Kent and UEA. -

Remember you don't need to make a decision now. The deadline for a decision will be sometime in May (check Track for a more precise date), so take your time, consider visiting Southampton perhaps, and consider why you applied to each of them and what appeals to you about each - make a list of pros and cons for each, but at the end of the day gut intuition is usually pretty helpful. There's quite a variation in location with those choices, so consider what kind of city/town you'd like to live in.

Edit no do it according to the courses need.
In my opinion I'd go to Southampton. It's in the russel group.

Re: Have 5 offers! Now which two do I pick? It's all about your best interests, to be honest. You can hardly get an informed opinion on here because you're in a different situation to everyone else on here (unless someone has applied for the exact same course from the exact same universities as you).(Original post by ShosannaDreyfus)

But as Becca correctly says, you don't have to decide until May, so visit Southampton. Heck, if you feel like it, visit the others again and maybe check out the local areas a bit more vigorously this time. Remember that you'll be using these local areas for at least three years, so it'd be a good idea to check them out before you plunge yourself into an area you hate.
And if it was me, I'd pick UEA. But that's because I love the place.
Congrats on getting five offers and I hope that whatever you decide is somewhere flourish at. -
Re: Have 5 offers! Now which two do I pick?
Southampton is okay. Hants in general is nice. UEA is in Norfolk, which is generally okay - just a bit isolated. Kent is in Canterbury which is a nice and historic place.
I would avoid South Yorkshire and Lancashire like the plague personally. Just my two cents. -
Re: Have 5 offers! Now which two do I pick?
I'm a southampton student, if you have any questions - though I study economics. I think that you really do need to visit. You might just find one feels like home. If not, imagine how it would feel to go there. I had three offers, but decided against Birmingham entirely because when I actually considered going there, I just didn't want to. UEA is apparently lovely. You ought to be aware of the reputation of each uni, though - not just for teaching etc, but for the life. For example, I know my uni is very much nightlife focussed - it's usual for most societies to have heavy drinking socials and you will learn to down pints like they're nothing. Have a look at the TSR guides as well.
