Re: Download 2012 Announcement Tonight!1st Download - 2003(Original post by Guitarded)
I just looked at the Download website, and it says 10 years of Download. I thought it started in 2003?
2nd - 2004
3rd - 2005
4th - 2006
5th - 2007
6th - 2008
7th - 2009
8th - 2010
9th - 2011
10th - 2012
Not too difficult to work out.
A bit disappointed with the announcement as I saw them at Sonisphere last year, but at the same time not surprised. Rumours have been flying around for a while. Andy Copping stated last year Metallica chose Sonisphere over Download...I have a feeling the reason was actually more to do with this, they are willing to pay more to have Metallica for the 10th Download, but still, booking them the year after Sonisphere was probably not a good move and will get a lot of hate from the Soni fanboys/girls. I hope Andy's got something else phenomenal to celebrate the 10th year, a band that constantly tours is nothing special.
I'm not going to neg you, but you should know, bands choose their setlist, not the festival/venue. It's Metallica's choice to play The Black Album in full.(Original post by metalthrashin'mad)
metallica playing the black album. How commercial and overrated.
wait, it's download, why am I surprised? cue negs from haters. -
Re: Download 2012
Should be, day tickets are usually released much closer to the time though, based on how many weekend ticket have been sold. But on the one occasion that the festival actually sold out, they still had the room to expand and be able to release more tickets. That was also an option last year, but not needed.
Can they beat 2009's line up for the 10th Download? -

Re: Download 2012
I would probably explode if Soundgarden is the third headliner, been rumored for the last two years and desperately need a trip to Europe next summer.
Never had the chance to see Metallica, Black Sabbath are one of my favorite bands. I'm already considering getting a weekend ticket for those bands alone just hope the third headliner isn't someone I'm not interested in like Van Halen or Rammstein.
Are they likely to announce the third headliner before the tickets go on sale? I remember last year they didn't announce any bands until Jan-March. -
Re: Download 2012I wouldn't expect the 3rd headliner to be announced just yet, probably some lower bands next week. I think 2 of the 3 mainstage headliners were announced before the new year last year, as well as a few lower. There are still the other stages if you're not a fan of the 3rd mainstage headliner, 2nd stage headliner is usually a band that could be capable of being 3rd down on main stage, or even subbing. With only 2 bands announced, and you wanting to see both, chances are there will be plenty more to come that will make your money more than worth it.(Original post by ManBeast)
