How is everyone with the Box fitted finding it so far? I'm due to have mine fitted next month I'm driving a 1.6 so I hope it doesn't affect the score or anything

Absolutely fine - just make sure you aren't speeding and you should be okay

One thing you quickly learn to do though is leave far more space than you normally would between your car and the car in front so that when you need to slow down you can do it more gradually - keeps your acceleration and braking score far higher

Haha, Thanks I'll bear that in mind

How many people here have put down that the named driver is doing more miles, and how many miles did you put for yourself/named driver? and are they actually going to be doing them or are you covering the miles?

Also if you put the named driver as doing more miles, Are you still the main driver?

I see alot of people doing it and I question the legitimacy; but to me if you are putting yourself as 0-1k or a low mileage and the named as 8-10k, it may not be fronting but the intentions are exactly the same, to lower the premium and you may find you may not actually be covered should you be in an accident and need to claim.

But of course if like others suggest the named will actually be doing those miles in long road trips then it is legit I guess?

The money you get back would go to your account. If you cancel it, how do you plan on getting it?
I'm not paying by a bank account. I'm not cancelling my bank account. I'm paying it on a parents credit card in one lump sum. Then they're paying the card off, which shall be cancelled.

So what happens if you're a crappy driver and they want more money off you?

My guess is, your policy just gets cancelled.

How are you going to get money back then?

Also if you refuse to pay them than the insurance will be cancelled.

No idea. I can give them my bank details. I'm not going to refuse to pay them. I'll be paying every penny before i even have the policy. Also if they do need more money in the case of my driving being erratic, then I'll have no problem. Money isn't too much a big issue. Just the way i was going to pay it was on a credit card to avoid having to pay more than what is required. Hopefully it will be receiving money back instead of them needing to have more off me. I would of thought they would of been able to send out cheques, if not then i shall phone after taking out my policy to give them my bank details.

Why on Earth don't you get a Debit card. You only pay with what's in your account. Simple, I have a Lloyds Debit Card.

I don't have the full amount right now. After i've forked out for my car as well, it's pushing towards £6-7k

If I pass first time, before my 18th. I won't have money from my birthday. My mom has already told me the amount she will give me. Which isn't in a current account. It's in an ISA. After this i should have enough. Also it may not be me paying for it, if it is my mom she won't use her debit card for any purchase over £100, and there is a lot less protection compared to a credit card.

Protection? I don't think Co-Op will bleed your mom's account wrong to be honest, but it's up to you.

Is it better to add your parents as the main driver, or is it better to add your parents as additional driver? Cos If you are the named driver, then the named driver doesn't get NCB they only get named driver discount but if your parents are the main driver then its a lot cheaper than the other way round but you don't get NCB. So which way would be better?

If you are a named driver, but actually drive the car more than anybody else its fronting. Not sure how it all works with the whole mileage thing with the way Co-Op works. Go as main driver, get your NCB for the future. In a couple of years time you'll be glad you paid extra to start with.

Just a bit of question out of curiosity but if you were to cancel within the 14 days, on say the 10th day of the policy do you get the the deposit back minus a cancellation charge?

Has anyone ever lied about their overnight postcode address? Without it I'm getting quotes of 3000 on a 1.1 Renault Clio and this is with adding two female additional drivers with 10,000 miles each and me with just 1,000?

I put in Lancaster as an overnight address and it went down to 900. I'm going to be commuting so I'll be living at home the majority of the time, occasionaly staying at mates house in Lancaster. Can they track if you do using the black box?

The box acts as a Tracker but as far as I know they claim they only activate the tracker when the car gets stolen for example so the police can recover it but who knows for sure what / how they use the details.
