    Inexperienced driver Excess
An excess will apply in the following circumstances to drivers who have held their license for less than 3 months:

Were driving between 11pm and 6am on any day* £500
Were driving with more than one passenger under the age of 30* £500
    Young Driver Excess
The Young Driver Excess, as specified in the table below, applies where the driver or person in charge is aged under 25 years. This excess is paid in addition to the Standard Excess, Inexperienced Driver Excess and any Voluntary Excess which you may have chosen to pay.

    Age Young Driver Excess
    under 21 years £300
    21 - 24 years £200
Wow, those are crazy involuntary excesses if combined.

Im getting this insurance was wondering whether the box is very sensitive or not so doing 80mph on the motorway will affect it?

Anyone know if they track your location using the box or not?

Has anyone renewed their current YDI with co-op? Does someone come and inspect the car again?

Question for those with the Box fitted -

When they fit it what exactly do they do? Do they just "plug" it into something under the dashboard and that's it? Do they need the engine on or anything

Mine was fitted to the right of my steering wheel, basically where my right leg is next to when I drive

It took about 20 mins for them to fit it, and I don't think he had the engine running

Ah, that might be a problem :/

I think they need battery power to test that the box is working etc

He might just jump start your car though?

Yeah I did wonder about that, Bad timing for the battery to go on me haha Hopefully the new one I ordered will come early tomorrow and I can install it or connect it temporary ready for him. Never know might have enough charge to test it in ignition

Yeah got them all ready, Gotta use my new owner slip as the V5 though which I've heard is OK (and theres a place to upload it on the dashboard so presume I'll just have to send it to them asap). I have got my full V5 but DVLA spelt my name wrong so probably not a good idea to hand it to him as it would be false

Yeah, when you send your V5 on the dashboard ring them to make sure they have it

I made the mistake of NOT doing this, rang up the day before they were planning to cancel my policy, found that they hadn't got my V5 and s**t bricks

    It's fairly lenient on speeding.
Doesn't like you changing lanes on motoways.
    Brutal on driving after 11.

    Not particularly.

You can easily do 35 in a 30, 45 in a 40, and so on

    Usually it allows +10%.

Acceleration and braking takes a bit to get used to though, you can't get too close to cars in front otherwise you'll be braking sharper than the box likes if you need to stop

EDIT: As above, definitely brutal on driving after 11, I think I was driving til 11:10pm and my score dropped from 5 to 2.5 for that day

Not so sure on the changing lanes thing though.

They installed it above the aircon on passenger side but now the aircon doesn't move or adjust and looks like somethings missing

Can someone tell if you can get no claims bonus from co op if you are using them for 2 years as named driver?

A friend of mine is with the Cooperative for his insurance and he has had the smart box fitted in his car. He said that it isn't that bad and as long as you drive sensibly and don't do anything stupid you'll be fine. Also, it's a lot cheaper than some of the other ridiculous quotes he had from other insurers!
