Wonder how "Ingenie Car Insurance" compare to Cooperative Young Drivers, as they both use this smart box thing. :holmes:

yeah i know theyre okay with manufacture alloys ,

also im not so keen on this, especially the acceleration bit, what if youre overtaking a bus, you need to hit the acceleration to get past it quick enough,

well I've been doing pretty fast take off from standing mainly because I don't wanna stall the car haha. Like I have never got lower that 3.9/5

I think its more to do with overreving leading to fast take off from standing that accelerating when youre already doing a decent speed. Everything other that braking/accelerating I have 5s

oh right i over rev alot but ive learnt to like put enough pressure to do a quick acceleration but no over rev, so theyre more into over revving right?

is under 3 poor driving, i dont want my policy cancelled or premium increased!

It's simple, you could get straight 2s for for accelerating.....but if you keep he rest at all 4/5 then youre sorted.

being honest I forget about the box, because the other 3/4 boxes are just so dam easy to get 5s in its ridiculous lol.

Speed- don't go over the limit too much =5

    No night driving- easy 5

Cornering- don't do a corner at 50 odd miles, come to think of it I did about 35 on a reasonably Sharp bend and its sill 5

loving this insueance, espeically as its fully comp!

    hi there people,
been reading the comments and am interested in getting this insurance, cheapest quote i have got is £1700 with the smart box, the car would be a 1.6 astra, as i would not be driving it much my dad would be first driver and he would use his 7 years NCB...
does any one have any tips for me to bring the premium down? am 17 years old and only passed my test 2 weeks ago.
also my dad would drive at night occasionally does this affect the rating alot ?
look foward to hearing from yourselves

I'm thinking about getting the Cooperative insurance when I pass (hopefully in two weeks)
I've just had a look at Inginie and they want £2300 for a Peugeot 106 when I can get it for just under 700 with Co-op.

is there anything hidden I should know about cooperative car insurance?
How do they measure your driving, does it go by speed, handling, miles and so on, I know most insure the box companies measure those?

Also is there a decrease or increase at the end of the year and if yes what %?

    - Speed Score. - Whether you're with the speed limits of the road mostly.

    - Breaking/Accelerating Score - If you accelerate within good time, and breaking, if it's smooth and progressive, rather than harsh and sudden.

    - Handing/Turning - Basically if turning into roads at the correct speed and not erractically.

    - Time Score - If you drive a lot at night between 11pm-6am then it'll be low, though you're assessed on an average score. So assuming the rest of your driving is fine, the cost of your premium cuuld still go down.

The decrease/increase comes after 3 months. It can go up by maximum of 20% and down by up to 15% (I think).

If you're the name driver you achieve a NCB at the end of the year, assuming nothing goes wrong.

I'd be the main driver. So say my premium was £2000 then at the end of the year if it increased by the 20% maximum it would NOT exceed more than £2400? I don't want to be billed at the end of the year fro like, £2700 when it was only supposed to be £2000

with these telematics boxes will the engineer that comes round to fit the box also be some secret spy for the insurance company? spying to see if i have any kind of modification like some alloys? will he be checking out my car and recording everything he see's to report back to the insurer? or is he just an engineer hired soley to fit the box and leave? this is really important for me to know as 'insure the box' are the only company giving me a quote under £3000 using moneysupermarket making them my only hope, coop dont seem to provide me or any other 'box fitting' insurer for that matter so this is my only hope of driving......
