I am also just waiting for loughbrough but have heard they reply at end of Jan/mid feb.If you are wondering, I quoted all these people because you have all applied to at least 1 of the Uni's I have applied for. I have not made my decision yet because I am just so confused and it is such a hard decision to make. I am having to choose between Brighton, Portsmouth and Bath. I am just so unsure which to choose as my insurance and as my firm. They all have their advantages and disadvantages and I have heard so many good/bad reviews about each of them. So the problem is that I like them all equally as much!(Original post by ziggymado)

I reckon a lot of you are just instantly going to say 'choose Bath' as it has the best reputation out of the three as a Uni (as well as specifically for sport). However, I am not so sure because I am worried that the people there would be too clever (I would rather be one of the cleverer people in the class than one of the least academic and just struggle the whole time).
For me, the most important things are:
Student satisfaction - As I must be happy there. I am slightly worried I will not settle so this is a major consideration when deciding on my options. I have looked at the satisfaction on unistats and on all league tables.
Drop out rate - Important for the same reason as student satisfaction (I want to be happy and don't want to have to drop out and waste all that money on going there in the first place).
Support etc - Just in case I need help when there.
The reasons for me struggling to pick a favourite:
Brighton - I went to the open day and the 'department day' (once I received my offer) and both times I really liked it. There was a nice feel about it and it had a nice community atmosphere. I could imagine myself making friends there and being happy. The area is also nice!
Portsmouth - I have been to the open days twice. I thought the facilities and lecture rooms etc were excellent, and I may be happy there but not sure. I have done a lot of research into looking at all these statistics about the Uni's and Portsmouth seems to do amazingly well on everything. For example, on Unistats it shows that everyone at Portsmouth is happy and everyone doing sport is giving extremely high reviews about the course! it is also near home which is a bit of a bonus for me.
Bath - Very good name, good reputation, good job prospects, top of the range facilities, halls look quite nice, nice area. However since the Uni is a lot bigger, I just think it would be harder to contact staff (such as lecturers, counsellers or anything like that) if I wanted help (and I also think they would not go out of their way as much to help out). I am also a little worried about the people there - I am not particuarly good at actually playing sport myslef and I think everyone else will be really good and playing for top teams in their sports. Also, I think everyone there would be a lot cleverer than me. I don't actually think I am that smart myself compared to the people who go there (not even sure how i got an offer there!!!). My College grades are Distinction for sport BTEC, Distinction for Business BTEC and an A for ICT (extremely simple A Level) and I think these 3 subjects I am taking a quite 'weak' and 'easy' subjects. While my GCSE's were 1 A*, 2 A's, 3 B's, 2 C's (and I worked my absolute socks off for them).
So basically I just cannot decide. I came to this thread as I was hoping people could help me out. Could anyone help me in this horrible dilemma?
PS: If you are reading this and I have not quoted your username, I would still appreciate it if you could help out and comment!

I can not recommend Portsmouth enough, I've been down to the city 5 times and been to the open day and department day and loved every minute of it. The tutors there for me made me feel so welcome and comfortable. I like the layout of the university as that when we move out in year 2 it won't too different from year 1
The reason I didn't choose Bath is not because I didn't love the university, the facilities or the location, it was because I didn't feel like they could help me learn about the subject, I felt as though they expected me to know everything, and obviously I don't. Also, I didn't like the idea that the university is pretty far from the city centre, Bath is a beautiful place, and being down the hill from the uni put me off.
The most important things for me were location of the university, the subject units, the halls of residence and my gut feeling as silly as that sounds, and Portsmouth is the one for me!
I hope this helped and sorry if it didn't! I wish you all the best in finding the university that's right to you, and good luck
