Re: International Development at UEAwhat did you think of the department and did they explain the course modules in detail for the 3 years?(Original post by Lottie18)
I got conditional offers for International development too! I went to the open day on the 1st of October if any one else was there
-
Re: International Development at UEAI totally fell in love with it! Unlike other unis I had visited, UEA had a whole department specialised in International development. They did explain the modules, however I can't remember what they were! But I'm sure it's on their website(Original post by Pan-Asianism)
what did you think of the department and did they explain the course modules in detail for the 3 years?
but defiantly put UEA as your number one choice. What others unis have you applies for?

Re: International Development at UEA
Yeah, I like the idea that it is a whole department specialising in the subject. I'm putting it as my first choice hopefully but my other choices are Leeds, Chester, Derby and then Hull which is a slightly different type of course.
Does anyone have an invite for a Visit Day yet? I'm going on the 15th February. -
Re: International Development at UEAI was going to Apply for Leeds - however was massively disappointed on the open day. I could not gather hardly any information on inter dev and they couldn't answer any of my questions. Aghh. I applied for Sussex and Essex also for dev(Original post by jake862)

Re: International Development at UEA
I went on the open day in the summer but once you get an official offer through UCAS you get sent some information about a visit day which is like an open day but more specific. There's a programme of the day on their website: (www.uea.ac.uk/visitdays).
I get what you mean about Leeds, when I went it was OK but not great-think it was focused more on the Politics and the other subjects which were part of the same department.
Which DEV courses have people applied for? I applied for the one with Overseas Experience, it sounds like a really good aspect of the course.

- not sure whether to go or not? Are you going? And I applied for two UEA dev courses because I really wanted to get into UEA! I chose inter dev by itself and dev with social anthropology, politics with over seas! And other dev courses I have applied for are at Sussex, Essex and Portsmouth ( which i'm kinda regretting) ... What about you?

Re: International Development at UEA
Yes I'm going on the 15th Feb, I live 5 hours away but it's half term
If anything, it lets you see more of the Uni and Accomodation again but also you get to chat with lecturers and current students. Have a look at the programme for the day on the link I posted earlier and see if you think it's worthwhile. It's upto you.
I've applied to Leeds, Chester, Derby and then Hull which is a different course type. -
Re: International Development at UEAHaha this made me laugh! Well if all goes well, I'm defiantly going to UEA! Totally becoming a DEV student!(Original post by Hazular)
Hi I'm just gonna casually hijack the thread and say that UEA is badass and you should all definitely come here.
On a slightly related note, I walk past the Int Dev department every Thursday to get to a seminar, woot

Re: International Development at UEA
Hey all you empathetic developers :P
I've applied for International Development at UEA, Sussex, SOAS. I'm swayed towards Sussex right now because they have the Institute of Developing Studies there and also SOAS, if I do get an offer to SOAS which is slim. What does UEA have that could sway me back? -
Re: International Development at UEAI got offers from UEA (ABB) and Sussex (AAB/A*BB), I haven't visited Sussex - but I totally fell in love with UEA! The area was amazing, the course looked amazing!!(Original post by munchies1991)

Re: International Development at UEAYup, i've applied to SOAS(Original post by Luxray)
If you are interested in Development then SOAS may be an option to consider - they are well known for development. Also 'my' uni does Development Studies if you fancy going Manchester
. I already have my grades with an AAB but SOAS are looking for AAA. I'm just applying there on the off chance they like my personal statement because I think i've gained a lot of experience from my year at uni, although I hated a lot of the course.
I don't know, the thing that puts me off UEA is that they had "climate-gate". That really doesn't make me trust the academic staff too much when they sex up their results... I'm sure all uni's do it, but the fact that UEA were found out makes it a bit iffy...
