Re: AQA PSYA1 Unit 1 Psychology 10th January 2012My teacher is an examiner for OCR, and she said you would have to get the mark if the study is relevant, regardless of mentioning the wrong name. Also, if there are two researches (Loftus and Palmer) you will get the mark for only remembering one of them (Palmer) especially if you include the correct date: just a pro-tip (:(Original post by MizzC)
this paper wasnt too bad, i just happened to go blank on one of the cognitive interview steps and probably lost a couple of marks.
What happens if we write the correct study but write the wrong name of the researcher? will that be credited or not? -

Re: AQA PSYA1 Unit 1 Psychology 10th January 2012As long as you have 4 or more points and you have elaborated on them then you should be fine, but you could have also mentioned the continuity hypothesis and added some research..!(Original post by moominman2)
The first question threw me off, but after re-reading it, got into the swing of the exam thankfully.
For BOWLBY 8 mark question, I wrote about:
One special attachment (monotropy)
Attachment is innate in both children and adults
Attachment if for survival
Children respond to those who are most sensitive
BUT I FORGOT TO SAY ABOUT THE CRITICAL AND SENSITIVE PERIOD :O:O
How will this affect my marks? Will it result in a lower grade do you rekon?
Thanks -
Re: AQA PSYA1 Unit 1 Psychology 10th January 2012Was that the one for the leading questions?(Original post by geekinthemaking)
What did people write about not using repeated measures design?
I said because repeated measures design uses the same participants so they might notice the leading question so it risks demand characteristics and skewed results etc..
wasn't sure though.. -
Re: AQA PSYA1 Unit 1 Psychology 10th January 2012Thank you! I didn't think the amount of points, and elaborating so its all good(Original post by MizzC)
As long as you have 4 or more points and you have elaborated on them then you should be fine, but you could have also mentioned the continuity hypothesis and added some research..!
I also wrote about something else which I just forgot
EDIT: AH! The internal working model
Thanks for the reassurance

Re: AQA PSYA1 Unit 1 Psychology 10th January 2012
My cock-up was the Ainsworth strange situation, wrote them the wrong way round I think so that's potentially 4 marks gone - but hey ho. Rather that than a 12 marker. Heard some horror stories of people writing about the 'central executive' as I walked out..didn't say anything to them, others did however :L There's no point in worrying now, it's all done time to move on to the sugardaddies in June. Generally happy with the paper, had to rush Bowlby's one a bit towards the end, had about 30 seconds of free time by the time the exam finished! But wrote about critical period, innate programming and continuity hypothesis. Then about Rutter's sensitive period, Harlow and Harlows monkeys, Schaffer and Emerson and Lorenz's Geese for the evaluation. MSM was a dream! Overall positive and optimistic. Hope everyone found it ok!

Re: AQA PSYA1 Unit 1 Psychology 10th January 2012about 12ish(Original post by amymac)
Easy? Half the stuff I revised didn't come up and I didn't have time to finish the paper for 10 marks will be taken off already. SO ANNOYED, it was a disaster...
How many marks (roughly) can you get wrong to still get an A? -
Re: AQA PSYA1 Unit 1 Psychology 10th January 2012And how many for a B?(Original post by MizzC)
about 12ish -
Re: AQA PSYA1 Unit 1 Psychology 10th January 2012
I definitely think the exam could have gone worse fr me. I was s relieved that research on daycare did not come up and different cultures, I would like to think I sialed through the exam pretty easily and hopefully only lost a ouple of marks, but one cannot be sure. Fingers crossed for all

Re: AQA PSYA1 Unit 1 Psychology 10th January 2012Sure mate the paper gave a case study of two infants, one called Tom and can't remember the other so we'll call him Dave. It said they were observed in the Strange Situation, and that Tom was upset when his mother left the room, where as Dave was in tears and crying a lot. It then asked to catagorise both of them (2 marks). I put that Tom was insecure-resistant and that Dave was securely attached. However I'm sure it's meant to be the other way round, and that Tom was securely attached and Dave was insecure resistant. It then asked for another 2 marks to explain their reunion behavior with their mums. So that would be Tom being happy to be reunited with his mother as a safe base and Dave not being comforted and still crying even with his mothers reunion. I THINK that was the right answer, but yeh, there's your other 2 marks!(Original post by MizzC)
Can you remind me what the Ainsworth question was about?
