Re: Sainsburys thread MK IIILuckily I get to go straight onto the higher tier (I think they call it competency pay?), thanks (:(Original post by xangelinax)
£6.38 per hour then £6.58 after 6 months. -
Re: Sainsburys thread MK IIIYou'll get paid on December 30th for all the shifts you do up to and including December 24th. Any shifts you do after this will you'll be paid for in the following payday, which will be on January 27th.(Original post by willdougal)
Hello,
I start at sainsburys on Monday 12th December 2011 as a Christmas temp.
Can anyone tell me how the pay will work as I am starting half way through the month? Will I have to wait until January?
-
Re: Sainsburys thread MK IIIThanks. That's a pain as I'm due to finish on the 7th January. Is there any way I can be paid for all my work at the end of January ? Rather be paid in one go(Original post by Liam6993)

Re: Sainsburys thread MK IIII doubt it, but there's no harm in asking a manager if it would be possible, I suppose.(Original post by willdougal)

Re: Sainsburys thread MK IIIThanks for the reply, yup I know its more management..ish than entry level which is what i'm looking at considering I have quite abit of retail experience plus supervisor experience from a previous job.(Original post by davireland)
It is quite a considerable step up, the team leader role is closer to a management role than an assistant role. Yes you will be required to work alongside colleagues for the majority of your time but when working alongside them you are trying to motivate them and coach them to do better all of the time. Some days you will be responsible for your department in the absence of the department manager so this will involve planning and prioritising. Before starting on the Grad scheme, I had been a team leader and I enjoyed it, if you like the fast-pace and you enjoy getting to know people and encouraging them to do even better, it may be right up your street.
Sounds very good though, I have an interview coming up in January which will be interesting, just a quick question, is the interview ridiculously hard?
Also will I have to take that maths test and all that the others take too?
I just wanna be fully prepared tbh, I really want this so i'm gonna do as my prep as I can and finally any tips?
Cheers and thanks again. ^^ -
Re: Sainsburys thread MK III
I start my job on Monday, just wondering what to do when I get there?
For example, I only have my uniform, the handbook, and the u25 badge, but as I understand it I should have a locker, clock in number etc. as well?
It didn't really get discussed in much detail on the induction - that or I somehow missed it.Last edited by Shokking; 11-12-2011 at 01:17. Reason: numerous spelling mistakes -.- -
Re: Sainsburys thread MK IIIIf you're missing a locker and clocking-in number then a personnel/HR clerk can sort that out if you go to their office. Once you've sorted that, just find your Team Leader or Department Manager.(Original post by Shokking)

Re: Sainsburys thread MK IIIWill the HR be able to tell me who that is? I don't know anyone in the store other than the person who took my interview and the person who did the induction.(Original post by jjgoth)

Re: Sainsburys thread MK IIIWere you not shown how to clock in at induction? Do you know where you need to go on your department on your first day, and were you introduced to your manager and team leaders on your department. If not that's pretty shocking at how poor an induction you've been given, as these are pretty much basic things they should have shown you.(Original post by Shokking)

Re: Sainsburys thread MK IIImy store isn't (as far as I know). Wonder if we'll get given Santa hats again this year still got mine in my locker from last year. Did any other stores yet free santa hats last year?(Original post by wren94)
Are any other stores having themed days like Christmas Jumpers or Dress up as Elves? -
Re: Sainsburys thread MK III
Hello, I have been at sainsburys for about 2 months now on the counters.
I have just received a disciplinary for being absent last saturday, I called in to say I couldnt make it and game my honest reason for the absence, being extremely hungover. I am worried that I could get the sack for this, my manager is a really nice person though.
I have a meeting next wednesday and I have no idea what is going to happen.
Anybody have any info for me or do I have the straightforward sack? -
Re: Sainsburys thread MK IIIEven though you gave them the proper reason, maybe you shouldn't have gone out drinking the night before work?! That would be why you've got a disciplinary probably.(Original post by lufc1992uk)

They can't sack you for being off once, you will most probably just get a warning.
Have you been off sick before? as you can only have so many sick days in a certain time. -

Yes I have had one sick day off before. -
Re: Sainsburys thread MK IIIIf I told them I was sick, they would want a doctors note or something like that. I'm not one to tell lies.(Original post by FXX)
I'm sure calling in sick and saying you were hungover is a sackable offence. Will be interesting to see how they treat it. -
Re: Sainsburys thread MK IIII think, because you're still on probation, you could get the sack over this. I don't reallu know if its a sackable offence but two absences in two months isn't great and I think telling them you were hungover was a bad idea. (and I'm pretty sure you don't need a doctors note for one day off sick) :/(Original post by lufc1992uk)

Definitely bring someone into the meeting with you though.
We got given Santa hats last year to wear on checkouts.(Original post by thatg)
my store isn't (as far as I know). Wonder if we'll get given Santa hats again this year still got mine in my locker from last year. Did any other stores yet free santa hats last year?
I'm not sure if we were allowed to keep them though, I just left mine at the till when I left to go home.
Anyone else got terrible hours over Christmas? I'm only doing Christmas Eve, New Years Eve, New Years Day and 4-9 on the Friday between. Gutted.

what do you mean bring someone into the meeting with me?
Who makes the decision on whether to sack me or not?
This is really doing my head in. sacked for being honest. I have had one sick day already and was told if I were sick again I would need a doctors note...
