Forgive me if I'm wrong but I think you press Plu Menu, then choose Gift Cards. This will prompt you to enter/swipe the card then I think it should give you options for amounts. I may be wrong though.

usually it is a small group rather than by yourself

This is the third version of this thread. The other two threads got closed once they got too big.

    Are you being serious? Lol.

Of course you mention it. It could actually work in your favour though, should you express an interest in becoming a dual store colleague (i.e. contracted to another store when you move to your new uni store) as some stores look to drop colleagues and aid their labour budgets when students go back to university.

Keep all of your options open, don't manipulate the truth, and be honest - it'll help you in the long run

Hi everyone, I've just been informed that I have successfully got a job as a team leader in training at Sainsbury's
I called HR and was given my induction date but wasn't given anymore info really? I have a couple of questions that I was hoping somebody would be able to give me some guidance on!
    1. How do hours work at Sainsbury's? Is it a rota system where each week is different with different days off or is it a fixed system with fixed days off? On the online application it had one week of hours listed and had nothing on the second week?
    2. How do holidays work? I am planning a holiday in May next year but didn't mention this at interview as nothing is booked at the moment. I am aware holidays are on first come first served basis so whats my chances of getting time off? I don't really want to be booking time off during my first few weeks as I understand this may give the wrong message. So if I were to book it after my probation what are me chances of getting the time off? I was told around 350 worked in the store btw...
    Thanks

Shift patterns are usually fixed but if they need you to work other days then you might have more during the week but your shift times and days will stay the same.

As for holidays you should be given a holiday form with around 72 hours of holiday time to book. Make sure you book your holidays quickly before other members of staff book those days. You are likely to get that off but like I said you need to act fast

So you will be working for a month? If you are not going to take out a dual contract I think taking the job will be selfish as someone who really needs it can miss out.

How much holiday entitlement to you get? It says 21 days on Sainsburys website but I was of the understanding that by law holiday entitlement is around 5/6 weeks? I would really like to have my questions answered before handing in my notice to my current job but wasn't given a contact number for the store and HR at HO didn't seem to know much?

Kinda, at my current job I haven't got a different title to everybody else but I run warehouse, merchandising, stock etc and a small team of 3/4 people. So I find the team leader in TRAINING title very comforting lol
