I've had my induction and its day one of work tomorrow. When I first go in, should I see a member of staff to bring me down to the staff area or should I just go straight there myself? Also should I just go straight to see the manager before clocking in or what. Thanks!
Are you familiar with the store layout and where your locker/clock in machine are? If so, you just go in yourself. When you're ready to start, you clock in and then go find a supervisor/line manager to tell you what to do.

Congrats on the job! What department are you?

I have been down a few times and know where the clock in machine is, not seen the lockers though. Don't know how to use the clock in machine either!

probably best to see HR before you start to get a locker & find out how to clock in.

What can I wear to the induction? The guy on the phone was mumbling so couldn't tell whether he said jeans allowed or not.

You're supposed to wear smart casual (so no jeans - generally black trousers and a top), but depending on the people at your induction (and if you get a uniform or not), you might all end up wearing jeans the second day anyway...

Just a reminder that staff discount is at 20% from today-Sunday. I'm only in weekends, so it was a surprise to see so much come off :P

I find it funny that they made such a big song and dance about the whole 20% discount only to offer it to us for a few days. The way they went on about it you would've thought we were getting it for a few weeks but ah well.

Apparently they've set the Eagle Eye system to super mode for the four days to stop you using it too much. I would rather they just didn't bother if they're only going to put in in place for four days and then not let you stock up for the whole holiday period with it.

Wine is 25% off in convenience at the moment, and as such, with colleague discount, that means 45% off in total!

Will shirt, pants, tie be ok?

    Half an hour paid.
I actually prefer working 9 hour shifts to 8 hour ones. You get the same money but it breaks the day up more.

You'll be on the schedule as working your normal hours unless you tell them that you don't want to work it. Apparently you can't be forced to work Bank Holidays, but it's your duty to let a supervisor/manager know if you don't want to work.

Were you not shown how to clock in at your induction, or given a tour of the store?
