It really does! Thanks a lot! Sounds a bit like my first day at the work experience I did at Tesco a few years back. So, unless they're extremely inefficient it sounds as though I'll be actually doing the job for a considerable amount of those 6 hours? Or does it take the whole 6 hours to fill out the paperwork and watch the necessary videos?
It takes the whole 6 hours to fill out the paperwork and watch the videos. Believe me, you're in for a day of fun fun and more fun! It just goes on and on and on, when you think you've finished all the paperwork, theres even more! You get paid for it though so its not all bad - just about 93% bad!

How do you do a refund of a lottery ticket that has already been paid for? Is there a difference process if its all paid for by card too? Thanks

Where can you find jelly in Sainsburys? I checked several aisles but couldn't find it.

    Aisle 22, above the freezers.
Would you like me to show you?
Is there anything else I can help you with?
    Bye bye.

Didn't say hello I'm afraid... Also your avatar's not wearing its name badge.

True. At least it's an approachable expression, I'm using open body language, I'm showing genuine enthusiasm for the job, and I'm going out of my way to help the customer.

I wouldn't have thought you're supposed to but I'm not entirely sure on the rules  Anyway, I'd imagine the process is the same as voiding an incorrect lottery ticket, choose the void option on the blue lottery till insert pink slip/scan the barcode then fill in the void box and tear up the pink slip. If you don't void a pink slip I think the company still gets charged but obviously no-one owns the ticket. If refunds were allowed it would be through the refunds menu and I guess there would be a 'lottery' option or it would have to be goodwill or something?

Any other stores have the new automated announcements? That voice is ANNOYING, sure I've heard the same voice in another supermarket - possibly Asda.

I am becoming a supervisor on checkouts within the next week or 2 but what is the difference between a supervisor and a team leader. I am assuming that I wont be getting more money lol and my manager said the supervisor training will be done alongside my customer service training.
I will only be supervising 2 days and working normally 2 days, is this normal for a supervisor before all my shifts become supervisor shifts?

Supervisors respond to the calls from the checkouts, you know when you need help & press the supervisor button & someone comes over? That will be you.

Team leader deals with a lot of admin work too. Like holidays, scheduling etc...

A lot of people only do supervising, but they some still have to jump on a checkout when it's busy.

It's the same voice that does the automated phone answering for your store, and when you call the Customer Care Line. If there were a few more announcements to alternate between it might not be as annoying, but at the moment it's a choice of 3 which can get a bit repetitive.

Although I think the concept is a great idea, the implementation is awful. The store I heard it in the announcement sounded like being on the tube and was barely audible! "self scan is partially suspended due to a failure with the note counter at till 037..."

Ours sounds fine. Maybe they just had dodgy equipment.

Just had my induction day... Got paid for 5 hours of sitting in a tiny HR office filing out paperwork, and watching DVDs, a half hour break, and 30 minutes on the checkouts, got the wrong sized uniform, I asked for LONG trousers they got me the ones that say short on them, smh, and are out of L fleeces so they got me an XL, smh doubly, I'll get that sorted soon I hope... The actual work is a bit of a piece of piss tbh, working sat down, doing something extraordinarily repetitive and simple, joy of joys! Only 3 months of putting up with, thus far, quite unacceptable levels of incompetence, and then off to uni with a decent laptop to boot(no pun intended)! Go and work for them, do, just don't expect to be impressed.

I thought I had a really successful interview. The person was impressed of my skills, experiance, voluntary work and first aid certificate, but the person seemed to be really unprepared and I just got a rejection. The person who interviewed me had his phone on and had to walk out and check what my salary was.

    This was the email:
    Dear Chloe,

Thank you for attending the recent assessment for the position of General Asst (GA) Band 2.

While you demonstrated some of the skills we’re looking for, after careful consideration we regret to inform you that you have been unsuccessful in your application and we will not be progressing your application any further on this occasion.
