Re: OCR Biology F211 (cells, exchange and transport) - 11th Jan 2012Hi(Original post by 03zara)
Hey heres the Predictions for F211 January 2012 exam.
1. Cell membrane structure (possibly a diagram)- cell signalling (mitochondria are due)
2. Lung tissues
3. Movement across membranes – osmosis is likely
4. Xylem – water movement – potometer is due
5. Blood vessels- blood -tissue fluid-lymph are all due (heart has appeared 4 out of 6 times)
6. Mitosis – linked to stem cells
The above predictions are based on likelihood linked to frequency. Don’t ignore other topics
Are these predictions you've come up with yourself or teacher predictions?

Re: OCR Biology F211 (cells, exchange and transport) - 11th Jan 2012
Hello
I'm revising for this. Hoping for an A (and as close to 100 UMS as possible). Unfortunately, all of my favourite topics have come up recently. This means that my mock went disproportionately well whereas the list of predicted topics here fills me with dread! Anyway, thought I'd subscribe to the thread as I'm sure I'll make my way here a lot in the next few weeks.

Re: OCR Biology F211 (cells, exchange and transport) - 11th Jan 2012I don't really have a 'technique' as such. Just a balance between reading/writing any notes I need/past papers.(Original post by otrivine)
Hii what is ur technique in revising bio?
I think I will probably go straight to the areas that people have picked out in this thread because they happen to me all my weakest ares (
). I'll read through my notes in those and write myself some new ones, then do any past questions I can find to check exam technique. It does also help me to talk stuff aloud so I may go and try to teach it to my Mum when I'm done. Once I'm a little less terrified there, I'll go back over the areas of the course I've missed out (probably end of the holidays by then with people staying/history). And then it is past paper city - they really are the best way to revise, I think. I can re-revise any problematic areas that they show up and thankfully once I get to school I can ask my teachers for help. (For example, we haven't even learnt in class the xylem/potometer yet and we covered the cell signalling stuff indepently so I'm very vague there).
Hope that's some help, but I doubt it. Revision is such a personal thing

Re: OCR Biology F211 (cells, exchange and transport) - 11th Jan 2012My teacher said this would probably be the case. Especially the spirometer - there tends to only be one 'apparatus' question and it seems highly likely that the potometer (or, at a stretch, electrocardiograms) will come up instead. I guess translocation may come up but if it does I'd assume that it would only be for a couple of marks (maybe in one of those 'fill in the grid' type scenarios) - nothing major.(Original post by HamzahK21)
Is it just me in thinking that there won't be any questions on translocation because it was on the last paper and there was a whole question on it? Same as spirometers?
So scared for this exam!
Good luck everyone ! -
Re: OCR Biology F211 (cells, exchange and transport) - 11th Jan 2012Just been reading through these - they are so helpful!!
you! +rep
EDIT: Actually, is there anyway you could post/pm me that in a word document? It would be really helpful, as then I could add in anything or change the phrasing to suit my idiosyncrasies.

Re: OCR Biology F211 (cells, exchange and transport) - 11th Jan 2012I think it probably will. It seems to be a favourite for the examiners as it's come up for the last three consecutive exams (not including June 11) .(Original post by Kalliope)
Does anyone think Haemoglobin is likely to come up? It didn't crop up last year, might it be time to come again?
How long have you guys been revising for? I'm worried i'll mess up the exam really badly as i'm using a similar revision technique to GCSE's, getting fairly good mock grades as a result, and i'm not finding it as hard as people told me it would be *touch wood* -
Re: OCR Biology F211 (cells, exchange and transport) - 11th Jan 2012I've managed to put it all into a word document but some parts are confusing as I haven't put the questions in bold or some of the answers aren't in bullet points. The file was too large to attach so I made the images smaller so you just need to resize them(Original post by Kalliope)

Re: OCR Biology F211 (cells, exchange and transport) - 11th Jan 2012
Hey everyone!
I'm also taking this exam in January! But, I really need someone to help me revise?
E.g, I'll ask that person a question, they'll answer it - and then they'll ask one back, and I'll answer it. And then we'll discuss a particular section of a particular topic if needed!
I really don't want to come along as a creep, but would anyone be willing to do this? Pm me your msn address, and I'll add you, or you can pm me to pm you my msn address?
That's how I revise best, I'm not sure about others =/
If you're willing to do this - pm me =), since I don't want to keep on refreshing TSR, takes forever >.< - you can use a fake email address or whatever, I don't mind =)Last edited by Instincts_2012; 26-12-2011 at 22:05. -

Okay i worked it out .... aaah the handy paperclip icon ... who would have thought ( i apologize for being such a computer retard)
Hope the notes are useful . They're massive because i printed them out and stuck them on my wall and then highlighted stuff
