University of Glasgow Student - Q&A

Ahh change of plan! Looks like I'm going to be flying to Glasgow.
I've been searching the routes up and from Glasgow Airport (Paisley)-Glasgow University, it seems the route is to take the no. 500 bus to Bothwell Street and then from there the no. 44 to Hillhead. How does this sound? I'm not keen on getting a taxi and it seems that the bus is the only option...

Thank you, really appreciate it
Hey, sorry to trouble you again. I see from the stops timetable that the 747 doesn't stop at Kelvin Way but it does stop at Western Infirmary and on Dumbarton Road/Argyle Street. Would it be best to get off at the Western Infirmary and walk from there?

Western Infirmary hospital is right at the at the junction of University Ave which will take 5-7 minutes walk up to the main building.
Ahh right I see what you're saying. Thank you for being a massive help!

Hi. I'm an IB student taking part in May 2013 examinations so I'm applying for universities right now. I would like to apply to Glasgow to study genetics but I was wondering whether your accept IB English A as language qualification?

Thank you for your answer.
Hi! I've got an unconditional offer to study History at Glasgow. However, I'm really interested in doing film and television studies as another subject alongside History although I didn't apply for it initially. I was just wondering if this is possible? I've heard it's a very popular course so it's probably quite tricky to get in. How would I go about securing a place? Thank you!
Hello!
Is there a grant or loan for living costs for EU students? Or will I have to pay for the accommodation myself?

I'm pretty sure some of my friends didn't take that horridly expensive International English Language Proficiency Test because they held, or were due to hold, a bilingual IB Diploma. I'm just a student though so obviously I'd check with someone more reliable.
I am interested in the MLitt course in Tourism, heritage, and development.

As far as I know, candidates are expected to have at least a 2.1 honours degree in a relevant subject. So would you mind confirming if a Marketing major is classified as a relevant subject? My undergraduate minors also cover a wide range of:

- Project management
- Statistic and computing
- Organisational studies
- Advertising discourse
- Consumer behaviour
- Sustainable management
- Financial accounting
- E-business

Many thanks

Hi, I am interested in studying genetics and I know that I have to do another 2 subjects in year one and one other subject in year 2. Would you be able to give a little more information on what I could pick? I couldn't find anything on the website. If I could choose to study immunology and neuro biology alongside genetics then that would be fantastic but I don't know if I'd be able to do this..

I have applied to study Finance and Maths and i am wondering if i need to choose other subjects to study in my first and second years?

I was planning to do statistics however it says under the course programme structure that you take courses in statistics so i'm unsure if i will need to pick something else

I got an offer for Film & Television Studies and I was wondering if the two other subjects I have to choose in the first two years have to be from the same faculty or if I can choose any two subjects e.g. a language + psychology? Thank you
First of all, thanks for your posting.

This is taken directly from the University web-page:

A Master of Arts degree at Glasgow offers you the flexibility to study a range of subjects early on, so you can keep your options open before deciding what subject you’d like to specialise in for your final degree. The first and second years give you the chance to study some subjects that you may not have taken before. As well as studying arts subjects, you may also be able to study certain science and social science subjects.

You will choose your subjects when you have a meeting with your Adviser of Studies.

With best regards,

UK Recruitment Team

In your first year you will study three subjects and in your second year you will study at least two subjects (certain Science-based degrees have significant lab time and therefore it is not possible to carry three subjects forward).

Your choice of subjects will be made when you sit down with your Adviser of Studies. The options are influenced by timetabling considerations, but you may also choose courses that interest you, even if you have no prior experience of them.

With best regards,

UK Recruitment Team

Hi there, I'm not sure if I'm too late but anyway:

I received an unconditional offer for aeronautical engineering (beng) and I'm wondering by the 3rd or 4th year would it would be possible to move on to the (meng)? Also, would the people who applied for the meng and the beng be in the same class for the first few years?
Thanks.

Thank you for your reply sorry for all the questions but is it possible that finance and maths could be counted as two separate subjects even though i applied for them together under the one course code as i am really struggling to find two other subjects that i would want to study along side finance and maths if they are counted as one subject.
Thanks
