Want to do an Environmental Science degree but not sure I will get the grades?
I've started my As levels this september and took biology, chemistry, environmental studies and geograhy. I am doing fine with all my subjects so far apart from chemistry which I am miserably failing at. I'm planning on dropping chemisry when i finnish my as levels at the end of the year and hope to get As and Bs in the other subjects at a level.
What I want to know is would Unis still accept me if i have something like an E in chemisty at AS but have good grades with the rest of my subjects??
Not sure what uni to go to do environmental science yet so if anyone has done the course can you sugest any good unis?
thanks -
Re: Want to do an Environmental Science degree but not sure I will get the grades?
Your AS probably won't mean much. If you do well in the other three and have decent predictions you should be fine.
They sometimes just ask for a pass in a fourth subject - which an E meets that.
Occasionally, they might ask for a B or above in a fourth subject but I don't think environmental science is that competitive so I highly doubt they bother. -
Re: Want to do an Environmental Science degree but not sure I will get the grades?I applied for Environmental Science with AS grades off ABCDDE. I got 5 offers, those included Leeds, Southampton, Reading and Birmingham (well respected and some Russell group) and I never had any problems.(Original post by matmad94)

My A-levels were Geography, Physics and Chemistry, but most universities ask for 2 science subjects that include the Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Geography and Environmental Studies. So you're fine!
Where were you thinking of applying too? -
Re: Want to do an Environmental Science degree but not sure I will get the grades?
I've just applied for environmental science at Plymouth and Worcester uni, I've had conditional offers off of both of them and I need 280 ucas points. This means i need to get ABC/ACC/BBC including geography and a science subject. I'm doing chemistry but you could have other sciences aswell.
Have a look on the uni's websites they tell you what grades you need and in what subjects. You dont have to put your chemistry grade on your application, i got an E in AS Biology last year and didn't put it on the form.
Hope this helped a bit

Re: Want to do an Environmental Science degree but not sure I will get the grades?
Hi, I study Environmental Science at the University of Birmingham (with professional placement abroad) (Offer AAB) and I also took Chem, bio, geog and environmental studies.
Got a D in chemistry AS and dropped it, worked really hard with the rest of my subjects and managed A*AA.
I think your subjects (as mine did) stand you in a good position to get onto environmental courses, and the normal course at Birmingham only asks for BBB.
Also highly recommend Birmingham - course is great and has only 30 people on it, so the teaching is very good.Last edited by twoforjoy; 18-01-2012 at 13:54.
