Defaulting landlord

If an owner of property has a tenant who has faithfully paid their rent but the owner defaults on payments to the bank and the bank wishes to repossess the property, what can the tenant do?

Thank you

Usually very little, as long as the mortgage was already registered when the lease was granted - which it almost always will have been.

The tenant could try to persuade the landlord to take over the lease, or to grant a new lease, especially if there is no immediate prospect of sale, with the argument that the bank would at least then be receiving the rent. But they don't often agree.
