Re: York St John 2012
@ ejp94: Yeah, I thought that seven was quite extensive.
Hmm, Percy's Lane/Gray's Wharf is quite expensive, compared to the others. I've chosen Limes Court, whereby a large implication was the cost of the accommodation.
I think it was a compromise between the standard and the cost, which I think Limes Court was well suited alongside City Residence/The Grange. -

Yknow, instead of '@'ing people you can actually quote them, then they're guaranteed to see it

Re: York St John 2012Yeah, the maintenance loan I'm entitled to will cover the majority of the rooms I could get from City, the Grange or Limes (which are my top three) and allow me to have a little bit of money to live on. There is absolutely no way that I could live at Percy's/Greys Wharf as they are quite expensive and I'd have practically nothing to live on. So I'm just concerned that I might end up in one of them and not be able to afford it because I had to put the three rooms within my top seven preferences.(Original post by DanielBeal)

Re: York St John 2012Which ones have you put for your top choices? My parents have said the same thing about giving me money for food etc, but I totally agree that it'd be nice to have that little bit extra to live on!(Original post by doughnut92)
Yeah, I have this problem as well. Now I don't know whether to change it back to Standard, Superior, Premium to have that extra 240 for the year?! My parents have said they'll have to set up a direct debit anyway for food and stuff but the extra 240 would be nice.
But I don't want to change it again and have my preferences set back another day and end up in a house or something

Re: York St John 2012There is a Spar and a Londis near The Grange. Sainsburys and Morrisons are pretty close too.(Original post by DanielBeal)
@ doughnut92: Yeah, I noticed that the difference in price between those three are quite slim. I think most students want to get the decision right, as it's quite a large decision within year 1.
@ Shelly_x: Thanks
I tend to make assumptions, if I'm not too sure, which can often be wrong at the best of times.
I vaguely remember that someone did say that alot of student houses held with private landlords are near/around The Grange, although it's been awhile since I've visited now. I noticed that there was an small corner shop called Londis, which is quite convenience.
Just wondering, do you know if you're able to choose between the different bands/room sizes on Limes Court and The Grange, as your able to choose between the different room sizes with Percy's Lane/Grey's Warf?
When I applied you weren't able to, I don't think its changed. -
Re: York St John 2012Thanks for the confidence! haha(Original post by nm9801)

Re: York St John 2012I'm not- I'm doing Primary Education- but if there's any kind of English/literary societies, I'll definitely want to join! I'm doing Lit and Language as separate A Levels at the moment and I'll definitely miss them otherwise!(Original post by DaniHanner)
Is anyone wanting to do an english course next year? -

Re: York St John 2012
I am going lang now at A level and love it! I am going to do Primary Ed but would also love to join any 'Englishy' societies! Haha I have put Percy's lane/Grey's Wharf first, then city res, then limes, then the grange and I can't remember past then haha! Xx(Original post by doughnut92)
Ahh cool
I only did Lang at A-Level.
Percy's Lane/Grey's Wharf as first 3 preferences then City Res, Limes, Grange and House.
What about you? -
Re: York St John 2012That's the exact same as me! (accomodation choices- though also the english thing as well haha)(Original post by laurabadleg)

Re: York St John 2012I wonder when will find out which accomodationwe have got..(Original post by thompsonic7)

Did you put single, mixed sex or no preference?
Quiet area/not bothered/no preference?
I put no preference and quiet area because I am an old lady
haha!

Re: York St John 2012I put mixed and no preference... I couldn't live with all girls- the hormones would drive me crazy! And I thought putting social might mean I end up with people partying all the time, but quiet might be all really shy people and they wouldn't talk to me!(Original post by laurabadleg)

Re: York St John 2012Ugh imagine... Guys are so much easier to get on with.(Original post by Pitt1988)
The ratio is something like 70:30 female / male, you could end up in all girls! Ohhhh the bitchiness!!
Then again, I'd feel even worse for one guy in a flat of girls- as soon as the periods align, you're in for one hellish week every month!
. Does anyone else think it's a bit silly that we have to put atleast 7 choices in preference? I had to put some down as preferences even though I know that I can't afford Percy's Lane/Gray's Wharf!
