Re: Hull University Applicants 2012
Hey all,
Currently stuck between a rock and a hard place in deciding on my insurance place, with Hull being one of the two choices. Just wondering if anybody has a run-down of the compulsory and optional modules on the Marine and Freshwater Biology (C163) course, I've been looking but I'm only finding a general description of the course. If anybody has any info on this, it'd be much appreciated!
Thanks

Re: Hull University Applicants 2012Most of the teams cater to a wide range of abilities, I know that this year at the hockey club we had a few people join who never played before and they have become regular players and social goers. There's something for everyone. You won't miss out because you aren't very good at all.(Original post by ThisaraD)
Brilliant! Thanks so much for the info, though I doubt that I'd be good enough to get onto any sports teams - My greatest sporting achievement is just about qualifying for the discus at sports day in Year 10 and javelin in Year 11, and I came last... Both times... :'( -
Re: Hull University Applicants 2012That sounds absolutely fantastic, might actually take up hockey then - thanks(Original post by Keckers)

No matter what your first impressions are I definitely recommend you fully embrace the first social on the wednesday of fresher's week (and all the wednesday socials after that) they are simply great evenings.

Re: Hull University Applicants 2012i really really really want, no, infact i need an en suite room, i'm such a clean freak the idea sharing a bathroom genuinely makes me wanna cry! but living in the lawns seems like it willbe fun so i'm probably gonna go for nicholson or lambert, roll on application day!(Original post by ThisaraD)
I know, I can't wait to go either! Hopefully we might meet up there at some point!
The course looked absolutely spectacular, which is why I was so easily convinced to turn down Sheffield, even with it's amazing rep. Internet Hi-5!
I have indeed, the open day was probably one of the best experiences I've ever had, and considering I thought my cat was being put down back at home, I find it utterly remarkable that I managed to enjoy going to Hull so much. Luckily he's downstairs destroying aesthetic figurines now. ^_^
Any idea what kind of accommodation you're going for?!

Re: Hull University Applicants 2012Yes that is all we get for now, it explains in the email that an option for accommodation will show up when it opens at 7am on Wednesday.(Original post by TeddyMuffin)

I just realised the irony in that sentence...
Really? I'll probably go for shared accommodation, actually, I'm pretty sure I'm going for a student house, the 42 contract appeals to me mainly because I REALLY hate living at home... Strangely enough, it really doesn't bug me whether I have to share a toilet... I mean, it's a lot cheaper without one, and plus, think of all the spare money you'll have to get wasted with me(Original post by EmmaStokess)

i'm pretty nervous about the application thing on wednesday i hope i wake up in time, its first come first serve isn't it?

Re: Hull University Applicants 2012i know that nicholson is cheaper, and is okay as far as student places go, but i didn't go to taylor court at the open days, its seems nice from the pictures!(Original post by 994A)
Any advice on accommodation, I’m stuck between Nicholson Hall and Taylor Court?
-
Yes i think it is first come first serve i think. I wouldn't worry yourself too much about not getting up early. The site will almost certainly crash when hundreds of students all trying to book accommodation at the same time. Although i share your worry of not getting what i want.(Original post by EmmaStokess)

Ah, but that's the beauty of having cleaners to do it all for you!
I bet you I'll have waayy more time to go out because you'll have to clean yours up yourself :P
Yeah, the only reason I managed to fill it in at 7 was because I stayed up the night, usually I would have hit the snooze button and lay in bed.
Yes it was. So, did you manage to get up then?
