Shisha pipe confiscated ?

Hi there. I live in a shared house which is managed by my university.

I know that smoking isn't allowed inside the house which is why all the smokers smoke in the back garden.

I recently brought my shisha pipe to my uni house and we smoked it in the garden (for those that don't know, shisha is flavoured tobacco and is legal!) and when we were finished I left the pipe in the living room as I live on 5th floor of the house and I couldn't be bothered walking up all the stairs to put it away.

Woke up the following day and there is a note from the university accommodation saying the pipe has been confiscated and I can collect it at the end of the contract?!

I really do not understand this as I have broken no laws or accommodation rules.

The only logical explanation I can think of is that the uni must of thought we smoked it inside as I left the pipe in the living room.

How can I approach the accommodation office and get my pipe back !?

Any serious answers are appreciated.
I don't understand the point of shisha, and I lived in the Middle East! It's just flavoured gas in my opinion...
On the other hand, just explain the situation to them, I'm sure they'll understand :smile:

The only ways I can think of doing that is to show them the shisha packets. Plus there is a camera outside in the garden so if they were that bothered they could check that!

Go and speak to them and just be honest.

I'm assuming they thought it was a bong or was being used for smoking something illegal, go and explain to them that it is a Shisha pipe, perfectly legal. Also, make sure you point out that if you had been smoking it inside then they would have been able to smell it.

Nothing you can do except for speaking honestly to whoever is in charge of your accommodation and tell them exactly what it is that they confiscated to make sure that they havn't thought it was something it isn't.
Haha just re-found my thread, I got it back by the way. They just thought we were smoking inside because I didn't bother cleaning it when I brought it into the house so there was a smell of ash about the room.

And it was the maid that tipped them off!

The 'House Cleaner' I should say. Just a woman who was hired by the uni to vacuum the house every week. She thought we'd been smoking inside
