Arghhh! Offer from Exeter!! 32 points, the same as stupid old Aber So happy as I'd convinced myself I was getting a rejection and they've offered me one under my predicted!!

That was the most nerve racking 10 minutes of my life... I checked my emails on my phone in bed, saw I had an email about Track updating, the internet stopped working on my phone so I charged downstairs and turned the PC on, it then started doing some weird download thingy whilst I sat her having a mini panic atttack... arghhh so happy
    YAAAAAY well done!!!

    Hey everyone

I've got unconditional offers from Exeter (!!!), Kent, UEA and plymouth and a conditional offer from Cardiff.

I applied last year, but missed out by two marks and Exeter wouldn't let me in, so I decided to re-sit and reapply for this year, but now they've given me an unconditional offer with my original grades!

I love Falmouth and the Cornwall Campus so much! So happy to have got the offer. Can't wait to go!

Hope all of you get the offers you want, and I might be seeing some of you in September!
YAyyyyy! Nice one!!! Wow! Unconditionals! Congrats! I think Ive seen you before on the springwatch/autumnwatch boards before??? You helped me with my choices! Thanks! I was the africananimlaseagle person always pestering about which uni was good for zoology!!! Lol! So happy for you!

I am indeed! Yeah, so happy to get an unconditional I've already accepted my place. I'm so glad I don't have to go through the panic/totally paralysing fear of waiting on grades again! Hahaha, you have that joy to come Nice to 'see' you! Glad I might have helped in some way! What unis did you go for in the end?

hahThanks, not really looking forward to that part!! I bet it was so worth accepting a place there!! I applied to Leeds, Exeter, Bangor, Kent and Chester two weeks ago. So thanks again for the tip off- Exeter and Kent! A bit nervous about getting the grades, but the only thing I can do is study I guess!

Definitely It was my favourite from the minute I visited. Can't wait till Sept!! Have you visited any yet? Do you have a favourite at the minute?

I'm sure you'll do fabulously! The only advice I could possibly give you is to make sure you get help on anything, even if it seems like the tiniest point, it can really mess you up in the exams, so go and get someone to go over it with you till you get it! It really can make the difference, as I found out this summer!

Let me know how you're doing, I'm sure i'll be in and out of here now!

Aww thank you so much!!! Thats a great help! Will take that on board this summer!Defo! You must be incredibly excited! Planning everything out for when you get there! Ive not visited any yet, as I live in Spain!!! Ive been so busy with focusing on biology that I decided not to visit this year, and to just wait and see if I got any offers; to visit then. So will be going over Feb/march to see them!! I really love Leeds! I think Exeter is incredible too, but my brother lives in Yorkshire so Im close to family which always helps. I would'nt live in digs though, I would live with my brother-can't stand cities!:P That's what attracted me to Exeter, (plus its fab course content!) Many thanks for your help!

Nice!!! Wow, well done for getting in this year!I really want to get into Leeds too! What do you find its like there??? Is the course content interesting? When I applied to Leeds I choose it primerily becasue the course looked fascinating,(plus got a brother in York!) but it would be great to hear what a student who's in there thinks! What about the area for work experience in parks or zoos? Is it easy to find work there? Thanks so much for being patient with all my questions!
ps: What work experience did you do in your gap year if you dont mind me asking?
Hey, I am SO sorry for the extremely late reply.

I absolutly LOVE Leeds as a city and as a university. Such great support at the uni. I can only give my opinion on first semester as that's all I have done. The first year (especially first semester) is fairly biology based, which haven't liked so much. Although second semester looks a lot better. And it's only really to get everyone to the same level. Also, don't let anyone kid you into thinking first year is easy. You do have to work hard. I'm regretting doing basically nothing but go out this semester, I've got sooo much to do now

I haven't really looked into work experience that much I'm afraid, but there are conservation societies you can join.

As for finding a job, it's not actually too bad. Most of my friends that were looking managed to find them. You may have to be prepared to travel a little bit though, because they are harder to find in the city centre.

In my gap year I just worked at John Lewis haha, I didn't have the cash to travel. Got some nice savings now though. But I had my unconditional offer the year before so didn't have to do any. Plus I already had quite a bit of relevant work experience because until I was 16 I wanted to do be a vet (soon changed my mind after A level chemistry though!)

If you want to know anything else, I promise I will reply quicker next time!

WOW nice! Thanks so much for the response!! Its really helpful getting info! Glad to hear your enjoying it! (even though its hard).I think most zoology courses first year have the biology based modules-thank god I dont need chemistry for it! I know what you mean! I really didnt want to continue it after GCSE, although I know there is quite a lot of biochem about..:P What do you think the city itself is like? Is it safe?? Im not use to city life, Ive lived in the country my whole life but I guess I need to move on! Many thanks!
ps: Love John Lewis!! Great to earn your own money! Im so use to working for free Im sick of it:P

Yeah I think most courses are pretty similar in that way. Although you don't need a chemistry A-level, there are some basic A-level chemistry concepts in one of the modules. It's very easy stuff fo those of us who did A-level chemistry (even for me, and I really struggled with it), but the people who in't are having to put in a little extra work, although they are managing fine. But this would probably be the case with any zoology course.

The city itself is amazing Before moving I'd lived in the countryside all my life too. Although I don't live in accom in the actual city, it hasn't been hard to adapt at all. It's quite a pretty city and nothing like the frantic busy place London is. There are also SO many places to go out!! Me and my flatmates made a list of places to go, have already done about 11 or 12, but still have so many more! Strange because I was only used to having about 2 options when it came to going out.

And as to how safe it is, it's not too bad. Although, don't know if you will have heard as I think it's only been on the yorkshire news, but there have been a hell of a lot of attacks recently. But as it's on the news, I don't think it's a regular occurence. As long as you're not stupid and decide to walk home alone and stay in fairly crowded area when out, you will be fine

And why do you work for free?!

Thanks so much rachelle!! I guess so, you just have to be careful wherever you go in a city. As for the work, I just had to get some relevant work experience done :P so I could put it in my personal statment. I did enjoy it, I worked in a local newspaper as a reporter/photographer, and this summer I also have a work placement at the Biopark zoo in Fuengirola so Im soooo excited!!! Will take my mind off results, but again its for free! Nevermind, I can work for money if I get into uni! Can I just ask do you think if you dont live on the campus, that you live at home, that you would make friends after lectures???Ive heard that there are many cafes and sports clubs there for after lectures, but I was afraid that if I did get into Leeds, that I would'nt get the chnace to meet as many people and make friends with them if I didnt live with them,Thanks again!

Yeh, i think i probably will book one... I want to make sure I definitely like everything about it as it's such a high offer for me, so it's a big risk if I put it first :P I also want to see how lenient they are on grades - like if I drop a grade on the day, will they still consider me (:

    Hey, congratulations
Loa\ds of people seem to apply for Leeds, I wish I looked into it, sounds like a nice place.
I got a rejection for the Exeter year abroad course the other day. I actually posted about it on this thread but my post has gone walkies??
I don't mind too much though as I have an offer for the normal course ;D
And I now also have an offer for animal behaviour which exeter offered me instead of the year abroad course. I thought why not?

    Thanks

I would have applied to exeter but because i live up in yorkshire its a bit far to get to cornwall, the course sounded pretty amazing.

I was quite worried my predicted grades as they were only BBC but i felt i could achieve higher than this but it doesnt seemed to have mattered overall in the application process which im glad about
