You can't bend down in them, so annoying!

Erm, yes you can. Do you have some kind of impairment?

I don't think skirts are impractical ...

The only impariment i have is the tear down my skirt whilst i attempted to bend over.

I love wearing skirts that are soft enough to bend over in, long enough not to flash your arse, and comfortably tight enough to not worry about the wind blowing it up.

(Sadly, thinking about it, I've only ever had one like this, I just wear it all the time!)

It's quite annoying, though, since I have slim legs and a disproportionately big body on top of them, if a wear a more-than-mini length skirt it hides them and I look like a brick.
I really like skirts, shorter skirts/dresses are better I think and maybe wear tights with them or if skirt long enough I will wear stockings
IMO skirts and dresses are way better than trousers/pants. They flatter the female figure (plus show off the legs), they're comfortable, they encourage you to walk/sit in an elegant way, they're prettier, there's more variety and they reward you for wearing heels - what's not to like?

Re impracticality, just avoid really long skirts if you need a lot of movement or flyaway ones in strong wind. Simples!

To the people saying that skirts are impractical because you can't bend over, I would say that it was pretty unladylike to bend at the waist in public regardless of what you are wearing. The good old crouch method works a treat and looks better anyway.

Oh God this happened to me a few weeks before the end of term at college and I mmanaged to walk all the way from the toilets to class with guys turning around to look. I didn't realise they were all staring at my ass until I reached class and my friend told me. Stupid of me to think that it was because I was wearing heels for a change.

I love wearing a skirt or dress but they are very impractical so I only tend to wear them when going out somewhere nice or a night out as jeans are so much easier. They fly up when its windy,if you fall over your less protected from cutting yourself on the ground and more chance of flashing as a result. Can be cold in winter. If you sit down then it can either lay awkwardly or flash when getting up so have to be careful how you sit and when you get up. Running, jumping, dancing, etc can also be tricky,as can bending down to pick someting up.
I always wear skirts because I can't get jeans to fit me, I'm just kind of used to them now.

I basically live in skirts. I love them.
The tight/bodycon ones I suppose are impractical but they look great. The normal ones are much more practical...other than when they get blown up in the wind :/ haha
I dont own skirts that reach my knees...I find them extremely unflattering. I dont own a maxi either, but I'd like to - they look gorgeous on some people!
P.S. How can you say skirts are impractical because you can't bend over?! Firsly..unless you're a porn star, why would you bend over without bending your knees?! Secondly, skirts don't have to be the length of belts!...

I always wear skirts and I find them perfectly practical. In winter I just wear thick grey tights / similar and I'm fine!

They're much more flattering (especially for my body type), feel elegant and more feminine, and give more variety than jeans jeans jeans.

I never wear tight pencil skirts / full length skirts though, they would be impractical.

PS: Just run your hands round your back on leaving the cubicle to make sure your skirt isn't up, you'll be fine. It rarely ever happens anyway. Also, I normally wear tights (nude in summer, thicker in winter) / shorts so if it's windy it's not a calamity.

just thought i'd go off on a tangent and say when girls wear a skirt that suits them, it really does make them look their best- more feminine and whatnot.

As for the best mix of style and practicality, a nice pair of jeans with boots seems to come out best

basically, you can do A LOT in them. but they are nice for showing off legs, no? however, at the school I go to, shorts are banned (for everyone, not just girls) and short skirts are generally acceptable. I know, I've worn them and got no trouble. Surely shorts are both more practical and cover up more flesh? I don't get it, you can bend over without revealing your gusset to the world, but they are banned. Bleh. Rules.
I wear bodycon so I just have to watch out for it rising up, which I don't *always* notice... :ashamed2:

On one of my first holidays abroad at 11 years old I was wearing a mid length skirt on the plane. I went to the toilet, and then walked down the aisle back to my seat. The toilet was also quite far away from my seat, and for some reason I could hear slight chuckling from the other passengers.

It was only when I sat down I realised my skirt was tucked in my kickers.

I've literally been sat here for a few minutes and I can't figure out how that's topologically possible...

In answer to the thread, I like the ones you can unzip from the back

To be fair you get a lot more freedom, they can be really good if you've got shorts on underneath. But otherwise they're just stupid.

LET'S DESIGN CLOTHING WHERE YOUR UNDERWEAR IS ALL EXPOSED, THAT'S A GOOD IDEA!

How short are you skirts? :eyeball:
Even wearing a bodycon skirt my pants aren't exposed.

For sixth form I only tend to wear jeans or chinos/capris in the summer as they're more comfortable and I'd feel too dressy wearing a skirt. When I do wear skirts for special occassions, I like pencil skirts as they're very flattering and look nice. I'm not too keen on those body-con skirts (at least for me) as they're too short.
nononono they are great and very practical!

Only this year I started wearing skirts. My boyfriend wanted me to start looking more girly.

I find them comfortable in the summer. They are very light. However, I hate bending with them or having to hold them when it's windy and sitting and standing up very often... But they are so light...

Exposed as in there is air touching the pants. Not Exposed as in people can see the pants.
