Of course, as usual there are plenty of suggestions of bad or mediocre series as being 'the best' and very few suggestions of truly great ones.

In no order, because that would be hard...

Band of Brothers - Probably top. Watched the whole series in one go many many times
Sopranos - Though I found I trailed off a little in the end.
    Dexter
    Big Bang Theory
    Game of Thrones - Need to d/l series 2 & 3
How I Met Your Mother - The redhead is hothothot!
    Friends - It's girly - it's my secret
Topgear - More the challenges/specials then anything though.
Spartacus: Blood & Sand - Only seen this one

Sure I've missed some. But, all these rock.

Hard to choose one (as always seems to be the case). There are the obvious ones (Friends, The Sopranos, Doctor Who) but the three below are also worthy of mentions.

The Office (UK) - Still one of the best comedies the UK has produced. Gervais, Crook, Freeman etc. are brilliant in it.

Top Gear (UK) - Gone off the boil a bit recently but the series as a whole has provided superb entertainment. The banter between Clarkson, Hammond and May is great aswell.

Cracker (UK) - The king of crime drama's.

The Wire - watch it in its entirety. A true masterpiece. Sopranos a close second. Then probably Breaking Bad.
