Incontinence in Young People
I'm 19 and I'm a sufferer of both daytime and nighttime incontinence, where I pretty much have zero warning before having to make it to the loo. I've been tested at my local hospital and every treatment/medication used on me has failed to work. For now, I'm being supplied with two types of incontinence pads both for day and night use.
I have the most fantastic partner, I'm studying an engineering degree and have a awesome social life in my halls with my friends- This seems to be the only part of my life where at present, I'm suffering in silence. I get peace of mind from reading about people with the same problems as me but they all seem to be considerably older.
Personally, I feel that in general society, there's a profound lack of awareness and support for the problem especially for young people, ultimately causing sufferers to feel isolated and alone- but then again its a heavily stigmatised condition which few suffers seem to talk about.
Out of curiosity, my question to you is how many people here suffer with incontinence of any degree and how do you cope with it?

Re: Incontinence in Young People
I'm 17 and I've had daytime and night-time incontinence all my life!
It's such an annoying thing in my life and it really does hold me back.
I think the fact that I'm constantly aware of it being there has really held me back when it comes to social events.
I'm off to York University in October (hopefully) and I'm actually really nervous because I know it will still be there. I'm currently having physiotherapy but it hurts so much I have to have an anesthetic gel beforehand.
For now, I just use pads 24/7.
I WANT IT TO GO AWAY!
