Re: How Much Money do You Have in the Bank?
I'm aiming for £1000 by October early and have £500 in the bank now - minus £125 i've due to spend to pay for the booked family holiday and i'm 15.My brother,21 has £7000 but spent £2000 on a car + insurance recently and i find this amount quite impressive from a underclass background and he inspires me to try to save.

Re: How Much Money do You Have in the Bank?I understand what you mean in terms of shares but I personally dont care as long as it pays more back than I put in! The idea of always wanting it to be in the bank is what most people fall into problem wise. I think you need to be willing to just let it go for a couple of years in the hopes the return is better. Basically just forget about it and act as if you never had it in the first place lol. Also I know there are a lot of other options other than just investing it with shares I just dont know what and how(Original post by Leavemyarcelona)
You're the same as me in that respect. You've got an extremely healthy bank balance for your age though, nice one. You put me to shame lol.
I don't know the first thing about shares either, to be honest, although I do know that I would personally prefer to have the money in the bank as money, if you know what I mean, as opposed to having it in the form of shares or assets. That's purely my personal preference though.

just turned 18 and around 5k, purely from part time work so i can travel after uni -
Re: How Much Money do You Have in the Bank?Your brother definitely has his head screwed on right then, fair play to him. You need discipline to save up that kind of money. I'm determined to save up as much as possible in order to put down a deposit on a good house in a good area when I leave uni. I grew up with brothers as well, hardly any money, scraping by and all that, and I am determined that when I have children it won't be the same.(Original post by Dalek1099)

Fair play to you for wanting to save up as well. Onwards and upwards my friend. -
Re: How Much Money do You Have in the Bank?Overdrafts are the devil. I've even refused to upgrade my account so that I'm not tempted to take one out.(Original post by Charlisquigs)
Currently -£850 stupid overdraft, working towards that elusive £0... -
Re: How Much Money do You Have in the Bank?you live in a capitalist system, how the hell you plan to live if you don't use much money (3 pounds, is a joke, right?)(Original post by just josh)

Re: How Much Money do You Have in the Bank? You have a very mature attitude for your age though, not many people have as much as you at your age. Well done.(Original post by seasons of wither)

Re: How Much Money do You Have in the Bank? That's exactly what I'm saving for at the moment. Got quite a while to go though.(Original post by ch0llima)
What I have saved may seem like a lot, but in reality my working friends earn about that a year (after tax). Makes me feel a bit poor.
It's a very large cushion and might serve as part of a house deposit one day. -

Re: How Much Money do You Have in the Bank? You shouldn't be getting EMA if you can afford to save it. It is for your upkeep in current education. Not so you can save to buy a nice laptop for uni. Although I prefer the idea of you saving it for further education than spending it on new clothes and as drinking money for the weekend as most of the tits from my school did(Original post by SweetsAndSugar)
£850. £500 or so is what I saved from ema, £350 from work. I plan on buying a laptop for uni with the ema money, a £10/pm phone contract and some new clothes because the ones I have are in dire need of being thrown away they're so old.

Anyway, to answer the original question. I did have about £4000 but I spent it on a new camera and lens. Which is really an investment, because I will map the money back way faster than I took to get it!
