    £0.00

I can't find a part time job yet and my parents were made redundant and so cant support me (but they are giving me £30 for my birthday next week, which is likely to be the only money I'll have all year).

So obviously I get a bit jealous when all I see all over facebook is 'payday, wooo!' from my lucky friends who found part time jobs.

What I have in my bank doesn't really matter right now because my card broke yesterday! So I can't get to my money. Good time to break, banks aren't open until Wednesday
So tough times for a couple more days! I have no money out in cash and I have no food, I discovered it was broken when I went to buy food due to having none.
I haven't eaten a thing today, and i'm about to order a takeaway online because i'm starving.

Thank god for Justeat! It's the only way I can get food right now!

I have little over a grand and i'm 16 (17 on the 15th). It hasn't really gone up or down in years, but it's all going to diminish soon with driving lessons, car (maybe), insurance (if i get a car), and i'm going to London for a few days this month for Hackney Big Weekend, so hotels, food etc will cost a bit.

I'm genuinely surprised how many people save money i.e. save money as a habit rather than save up for a holiday or a car or something.

I only ever saved money once in my life. I saved about ten grand the year before I went to university (was earning good coin and didn't have much living costs at the time so it wasn't so much of a hardship) but I did most of it in over the next couple of years by buying a car, going on a couple of holidays and generally topping up my student loans and so on.

I'm terrible with it in general - normally I will just spend whatever I've got without thinking. The more money I have on me - the more generous and wasteful I become with it.

I've got about a grand in the bank now but will probably be dipping into it for a couple of trips.

EDIT: Out of interest - why the negs? Jealous? If it makes you happy the grand won't last that long and I'm not earning so much these days.

    19 and about 9k.

I work a part-time job and live prudently. I pay bills and help pay for my family's food shopping, it has been hard.

Saving for either a) masters b) leave the country after my degree or c) pay a year's rent for safety when I graduate.

People either think they are bragging (bit silly if the purpose is to be factual) or else are just indicating they are jealous, which would be a bit pathetic.

I have a saver account with £3000 in it and a current account which has about £6,500 in it at the moment. I am 16 and the money comes from birthday and Christmas gifts of cash over some years, plus I get a regular allowance and don't spend that much of it, as I board at school and most things are provided. I also have a trust fund accumulated for me which is for the five grandchildren of our mutual grandparents and has what sounds to me like a huge amount in it, but in terms of the income we will all get from it as we get older, is more like a salary.
I agree. I dislike it when people neg you without actually explaining why. They should at least give reasons for it (and the reason should not be 'because you have more money in the bank than me').

I haven't given anyone a negative for having more than me. But I can see why.

Some people work hard with a job and University, often late hours and early mornings, to save up. Then someone (like the guy you quoted) just lives off their parents or grandparents.

Think of all the fat in the products before buying them, which is what i tend to do to put me off
I just can't stop eating them because I always feel the need to eat tasty foods and those don't normally come in your ordinary meals.

you stop being a fatty and start thinking about the future.. at the end of it you will be the one without enough to live on and end up in debt.. its not a hard choice to make really is it?
Although,I'm wasting all my money,I'm not fat because I don't eat enough for my normal meals generally and it is too hard to resist sweets and pizza and save up for my future.

I'm not a "guy". Seriously, it's just lucky though, I don't think I'm sponging or anything, they want to provide well for me and their other grandchildren, it's nice and I don't think there's anything wrong with that.

    Didn't look at the name.

I know - I wasn't knocking you - only saying why people don't like it. Some days I'm up from 6 studying before going to work and then coming home and studying until 1 or 2 in the morning, then repeat. It's hard to stomach when someone through no fault of the individual gets it easy.

We all live different lives, and I enjoy the challenge. It'll pay off one day I'm sure.

OK, I realise a lot of people are less lucky financially or have fewer comforts, I am grateful for my situation. People at the sort of school I go to and from the sort of home I come from don't always realise how well off they are, it's interesting to talk and here about different people's lives. I know it's tough for a lot of people.

But you won't, of course, do anything about it. And that's where the problem lies.

I like the snacking more and still can't resist 2 14 inch pizzas every now and again.

Funny how those that post larger amounts get lots of negs while those that say they're broke got positives. Just typical....everyone wants money, but hate on those that have it. Jealous much?
