You shouldn't be getting EMA if you can afford to save it. It is for your upkeep in current education. Not so you can save to buy a nice laptop for uni. Although I prefer the idea of you saving it for further education than spending it on new clothes and as drinking money for the weekend as most of the tits from my school did

Anyway, to answer the original question. I did have about £4000 but I spent it on a new camera and lens. Which is really an investment, because I will map the money back way faster than I took to get it!

What camera and lens?
£200 in my current account.
£4,500 in my ISA saved from my job.
Owed a payment of £250 from a bit of matched betting I did last week.. of which £150 is profit. Might sound a lot, but isn't really that much, only a couple of months wages really.. I'll probably need that when I graduate, although I was hoping to buy a flat.
I'm 22 and have about 20,000 €.

I have a tenner on my person, but fiver of that needs to go n beers (hardcore party animal I know) and another fiver for food Wednesday evening
Have my paper round of £8 on Sunday plus the tips I should get seeing as it's Christmas, so hopefully £20-£25 from that.
Owed a tenner from a mate
Asked for some money for Christmas (I'm awful at deciding what I want)

If I come out of Christmas £100+ I'll be happy

Investing and saving since I was young, I am from a fairly average family as well.

6,000 are from a half-year internship I did.
2,000 are from my military service (still mandatory here)
And the rest is christmas or birthday money that has accumulated over the years, or pocket money that I have saved up. My family isn't stinking rich, but my dad has managed to get a good job and earns quite well now even though he didn't even do A-levels.

£1billion.

It's all on credit.

The govt shall bail me out, however.
