Yeah, 2nd semester of 3rd year onwards. Becomes quite PBL heavy by the time you hit 4th year.

See for people who have a conditional, they'll recieve their accomodation choice in august. Is it common not to get our first choice ?

How is 2nd year going? I am currently in 1st year, but it would be good to know what 2nd year is like, as 1st year is soon coming to an end.

Did u study much advanced higher chemistry in first year ? I did it in 6th year, so would I find it useful in first year ?

You should be fine with Higher chemistry and Higher Biology. First year is not so bad, just a step up from Higher, I would say.

I've got a conditional offer from RGU and visited the university on the applicants day earlier this year. While I was there one of the current students informed us that the course is Mon-Fri 9am - 5pm!!!

Can any current students confirm this as most of my friends are at uni 3-4 days a week and this would obviously not give someone, like myself, who is moving from far away, much time to work etc.

If it is Mon- Fri 9-5, do you also do a lot of studying outside class time? And do any of you manage to find time to work?

It is not exactly Monday to Friday 9am-5pm. I had at least one day off each week during semester 1, same with semester 2. But, there is a lot of work to do, so the day I had off, I had to either meet up with my group for the team project you are assigned in both semesters or use it for studying. So, you will be pretty much in for all 5 days.

Whoever told you that was exaggerating. On averageyou get about 8-10 hours of lectures, 9-12 hours of labs/coursework and the odd tutorial every week. Unlike other courses, Pharmacy's timetable changes every week so some weeks can be more intense than others - which makes it difficult to work during the week! The only thing you can guarantee is Wednesday afternoons off..

There isn't a definite answer to this. It depends how much you take in during lectures/courseworks, what grades you're aiming for and how efficient your cramming is. There is a lot to learn but some people find it easier than others. For my exams I started studying 3 weeks/a month before them. But throughout the year there are small assessments to be getting on with.

probably not at all. They were well oversubscribed in my year. Not as many people failed to meet the requirements or choose a different university as they hoped.

I've put RGU as my insurance choice, Queens Belfast is my firm as i'm from NI and didn't realise I could get free fees til after i'd replied to my offers :/ Anyway, I'm thinking of changing my offers if I can, just wanted to know what the employability rates are like for RGU pharmacy graduates? I know Queens is high, and wanting to get out of NI I know there are great opportunities for Queens graduates in England, however I'd definitely want to find employment in Scotland. And have you any of idea what the job situation for pharmacists is like atm in Scotland, as here they're terrible!

Oh! And weather, I'm used to the cold at home, but are the winters really bad? I don't mind so much about the weather, more travelling, as long as I can get home for Christmas! lol

The stats say that RGU Pharmacy has 100% employability but this may change soon...

I thought Aberdeen would be super cold but it wasn't too bad over Christmas. It didn't snow so travel was fine. But this may not be the case every year.

Employability rates don't mean anything!! They just show who is employed six months after graduation ie every pharmacy graduate because they're currently doing there pre-reg!!!
