it's not the best but it's not awful either it depends what you want to do anyway, my friend is doing computer games design and they only do that a like 2 uni's in the country, inc. staffs so for him, it was the best choice
any traditional/respected degree. learning about journalism doesn't make you a good journalist. having the analysis and communication skills developed in other degrees are more useful and so valued higher by employers
Because I don't think it's a good university! It doesn't matter what course they want to do.
Yes it bloody well does. For example, my course is best taught at this university than ANY other university in the country, judging by the achievement they have been given
Cisco Systems have given Staffordshire University an Educational Achievement award, one of only six in Europe and the only one in the UK.
and Cisco pretty much rule the industry and really helped kick start a lot of things to do with networks. Every one knows that Oxbridge is good because they're good across pretty much every subject they do, but Stafford are good at some things and not so good at others.
Oh and not many universities do courses like networking, games design, games programming etc...
Traditionally journalist apprenticed on small regional papers before migrating to bigger titles. Unfortunately the oportunites to train at regional and national titles have diminished. If you are lucky enough to secure trainee journalism post then that would be best. but if that is not possible then academic courses in journalism represent a valid route into the profession. As the OP wants to do a Masters, I am assuming that they already have a first degree. The masters is an opportunity to learn basic the tools journalism formally, without doing muddling through it on your first job or internship. OP if you haven't already come across this site, it has some useful information http://www.bbc.co.uk/journalism/
Visit Staffordshire university and see it you like the ethos of the place. If it offers you the training you want and this is the route you want to follow go for it. There will always be someone to champion one place over another and similiarly another to say how awful one place is over another. If it stops you being a Johann Hari, it is worth doing. Be prepared to work hard and make use of any opportunities to get your work published.

You're not understanding my words. I, personally, don't think it's a good university for anything. I don't care what statistics and accolades you can throw at me, my opinion will not change.

So in other words, you're a snob and can't realise that some courses are done BETTER at an ex poly! We cant have that now, can we?
