Re: Medicine 2012 hopeful entrants IIDefinitely, its still equally as hard but the module system is better than being tested on everything in 2 years in a month.(Original post by Revent)

That's strange, I was pretty sure that they would accept Canadian qualifications lol I'm sure you would've found A Levels much more manageable.

Btw, you finished A2 bio in 2 days? Thats amazing, more free time on the study leave.
-
Re: Medicine 2012 hopeful entrants IINah, our A2 is split into two exams. I've finished revising for everything for THAT in two days.(Original post by apple17)

Fair enough haha
Although some people abuse the A Level system too much. If there was only one chance for resits, I think it would be better.
I haven't had to do a single resit except for exams I sat early and had self-taught.
-
Re: Medicine 2012 hopeful entrants IIAh, so theres one in Jan and one in June? But still that is a lot, what topics in the Jan one?(Original post by Revent)

Oh, how many chances are there in re-sits. Not even sure if IB has even resits.
-
Re: Medicine 2012 hopeful entrants IIFor me, yeah(Original post by apple17)

But some people do both in June, some people might want to do both in Jan (this is rare though because it involves the person having to learn the second unit outside of school haha but has happened in my school a few times
)

All the blue stuff in the table of contents
Well, it varies for resits, but theoretically, it's possible to do as many resits as you like
-
Re: Medicine 2012 hopeful entrants IIWoah, so much work if u do both in jan.(Original post by Revent)

Hmm not too bad, would have taken me two days too.
The content seems interesting though except for respiration.
That is just
, isn't it unfair to keep resitting though for universities cuz u had more chances to get the mark?

It really isn't that much
We actually finished before half term
Respiration is the best!!

Yeah it is
but people do so many resits. Obviously, there's only two times a year you can do the exam, and you're in college for two years, so if you stuck to two years, the maximum possible is 3 retakes
-
Re: Medicine 2012 hopeful entrants IIYeah, its not a lot esp limiting factors and stuff, not sure how much detail you guys needed but for us it was 10 minutes. Whens half-term, october?(Original post by Revent)

It's stuff like how the amount of RBP, TP and GP vary with differences in light intensity and carbon dioxide concentration
Yeah, third week of October I think it was.
I love respiration
-
Re: Medicine 2012 hopeful entrants IIOh, we just learnt the graph.(Original post by Revent)

Woah, that was quick and you guys start in october?
I don't mind it, the Kreb cycle annoys me way too much. I like ETC and stuff but Kreb cycle is just
The only part I really don't like in bio is ecology, not too interesting.
-
Re: Medicine 2012 hopeful entrants IIOh okay haha.(Original post by apple17)

Nah, we started in second week of September
5 hours of lessons a week for 6 weeks. That's 30 hours
Krebs cycle is cool!! I love cycles
Love how the end product goes back to the beginning
-
Re: Medicine 2012 hopeful entrants IIYou guys learned so fast. Our entire physio unit was like 30 hours and thats 1/12 units in IB .(Original post by Revent)

Like I said weird taste in bio, that is not interesting at all!
-
Re: Medicine 2012 hopeful entrants IIWow! 360 hours(Original post by apple17)

I may die
Not weird, GOOD taste
You gotta admit, it's so cool how acetate combines with oxaloacetate and goes through all these reactions and at the end of it, you get back the oxaloacetate
It's like an enzyme almost

plus fall asleep.
And, i believe its acetyl Co-A not acetate
but
true say.
-
Re: Medicine 2012 hopeful entrants IIReally? Haha. I thought the CoA was just used to transport the acetate to the krebs cycle in the form of acetyl CoA and then it's back to acetate?(Original post by apple17)

idk, not too sure now
But yeah, you admit it! It IS pretty awesome
-
Re: Medicine 2012 hopeful entrants IIYeah, it acetyl CoA.(Original post by Revent)

Its okay, didn't revise hard enough.

Re: Medicine 2012 hopeful entrants II(Original post by Revent)
Well neither of us are ''wrong'' per se

See how the CoA has an arrow pointing out near the Acetyl CoA?
And Acetyl CoA without CoA is just acetate
Right, but acetyl CoA enters the cycle.
but yeah acetate= acetyl CoA-CoALast edited by apple17; 04-01-2012 at 23:37.
