Re: Medicine 2012 hopeful entrants IIthey were soooo awesome for GCSEs, so just before year 12 i went out and bought all of the ones for a levels in the subjects im doing. totally regret that now(Original post by Doctor.)
They were amazing at GCSES
. Then at Alevel they just suck
I was looking forward to the jokes a little when starting alevels
Oh god, I'm so sad

i get ridiculously hungry when i revise. i always tend to put on weight during exam cause i snack so much(Original post by apple17)
Same, plus it ends up being I am hungry, lets male lunch or something.
Ooh, I see, yeah that can never be too fun.
Have you asked teachers for any tips to study/commonly repeated questions etc. Think about it, a month/less to COMPLETE freedom.

ive got all the past paper for chem/bio and am writing all the essays i can for psych, but apart from that, theres not much more i have to use
(Original post by Vulpes)
Finally beginning to tone down on the stuff I've been doing post-exams
How has everyone been?

see, when i finished GCSEs, i thought to myself, "yesssss now i only have to do the subjects i like and want to do, so studying wont be such a chore!"
ohhh how wrong i was
*HI 5* (except i'll be broke-err cause i dont currently have a job(Original post by Quackers93)
I did get very lucky, it was only because my mum worked in the nursery so they knew me and knew that I was good with kids that I got the job, but yes very lucky
When I was looking for a job it was ridiculous, it seems that loads of jobs you need experience for, but to get experience you need a job
Yeah St Andrews seems to be pretty expensive, so I'll be living as a true poor student haha
I know right! The sleep is amazing, enjoy it while it lasts
I think pretty much everyone feels like they could've done much more. I think if you went into an exam feeling that you knew everything then that would be a bad thing. You've still got time so just do what you can (I assume you've not finished all exams yet? I'm not sure when they all are) You never know, all the stress might be a good thing as some people thrive underpressure
)
nahhh ive only done one out of six exams so far, five left to do, all within 2 weeks

Then I shall give you a warning in advance. The first 2 years of medical school will put you through all that again. (can't comment about clinical years)
Medical ethics
Statistics
Genetics
Biological cycles (TCA, Urea, Nitrogen)
Zzz...

Though at least I actually find the textbooks really interesting to read now

Re: Medicine 2012 hopeful entrants III think I might have a nervous breakdown next year(Original post by Vulpes)

Re: Medicine 2012 hopeful entrants III go to a tiny school of 12 kids in my whole year so we have a semi-formal which I am debating to go to/not. Have a dress already (I keep a stack of dresses, like whenever I randomly go to shop, just buy for the future.
) How come you aren't going to prom (if you don't mind me asking)
-
Re: Medicine 2012 hopeful entrants IIAh, I am compeltely different. I get so nervous/anxious that I can't eat at all. Lose tons of weight.(Original post by laurie:))

Re: Medicine 2012 hopeful entrants IIThat is so true. Makes sheffield sound even better.(Original post by hslakaal)
Yeah. Need to earn more though
London's gonna be one heck of an expensive place to live
Don't worry. I'm sure you'll do fine.
Like I thought I messed up my bio, and still ended up with a decent grade. You'll be just fine
Well, if you come to Korea in mid/end of August, I'll be more than happy to help you around town
Thanks, its so hard to realize how you did. Like, I know for sure, a couple of silly chem mistakes like thinking HBr is a gas.
Meh, trying to think about happy things till July.

Ooh, lucky duck. (reminds me, finished the dragon training?) Honestly, I don't even know how that works out, you NEED experience for a job yet you have never worked before.
People at london universities will be even worse off.
Uni life doesn't sound that much better except for the freedom; cooking and laundry is
Love the idea of joining a career with virtually no sleep. Going to miss it so much.

Hmmm perhaps do a mini night session to get you into the revision zone (so you know you can actually revise) and then go for a morning one and go go go!
If you have a 10hr marathon at least have mini breaks every so often, it'll help even if you think it won't. I used to use opening the window as an excuse to stop revising... it could take me 10minutes sometimes to walk across my room, open the window, and sit back down haha
Am I the only one who thought that ^ was a banana at first?
(I'm having a major sense of de ja vu, so if I've said that before, someone please tell me
My 10 hour marathons end up being very productive and I do learn a lot and remember most of what I learn so I try to avoid breaks
Before you know it, 3 minutes turns into 5, then 30, then before you know it, it's tomorrow already
Nope, I used to think it was a banana

Re: Medicine 2012 hopeful entrants II(Original post by Revent)
Stats is amazing! A lot of modern medicine is based on stats
(Clinical medicine, started off with Richard Doll and co
) So not a surprise that you'd have to do it in your degree
Maths.
