I'm sure you're not unhealthy at all! You're only slightly over the "normal" weight bmi and it sounds as if you have a large frame, like others said bmi is "one size fits all". Probably just losing a few pounds would get you back into the healthy range, maybe you're eating slightly more because of the pill and cold weather - I think most people put a few pounds on in the winter.
If you look healthy and feel healthy and are eating fairly healthily & exercising I wouldn't worry!

If you're going on BMI, ignore it. I mean, seriously, you sound perfectly healthy, I don't even know why people would consider that heavy really for your height, though that's just my opinion :P BMI is pretty crap anyway considering it doesn't take into consideration all sorts of other factors. Mine's fairly high for my height [[I won't say, but yeah, I'm not the daintiest girl in the world ]] but it doesn't note down the fact that most of my weight comes from muscle rather than fat, so yeah, there's a variation of factors so don't worry too much As long as you can still make it up the stairs without losing your breath, you're fine :P

BMI is useless, it's the same way they grade paper...

It'd be much better to measure W/L^3 as then you'd get an empirical density formula. Then comparing that to one of pure muscle and pure fat. Sadly, I don't have the data.

For a girl of 5ft 8, 80kg is an unhealthy weight and i guess a unhealthy body fat percentage. You should try lose some weight. I'm same size and 1kg heavier but most my weight comes from muscle so god knows what I would look like if it was fat.

I've just got back from seeing the nurse who weighed me and told me that I should try and lose some weight. I am 5 foot 8 1/2, I weigh 80 kgs which is 12 stone 8lb and I don't actually look that big. I've put on some weight recently from going on the pill and I'm a but I still fit in my clothes. My measurements have changed since I was a bridesmaid 2 years ago but again I still fit in my bridesmaid dress. I was 36, 28, 27 and now I'm 40, 32, 41. I also have size 11 feet could this be adding extra weight on to me. My hands and feet are bigger than my boyfriend who is 6 foot 1. Should I lose some weight, this nurse really scared me and it's giving me a complex?
Measure your hips to waist ratio, It might be because you are curvey, big hips and boobs etc (the story of my life)

Unhealthy or not, I would have thought that being 12 stone when you're only 5ft to be physically unattractive tbh. I start to feel 'fat' when my bmi gets over around 22 and I'm a girl too.
Arghhhhhh!!! Time to freak out!!!!!!! Mine is over that!!!!!

I'm still a bit into the "healthy" range but still. Be careful what you are saying. 22 is in the middle of healthy so you may make anyone over that feel fat, saying you feel fat at that time.

I know you said you not everyone... but still. It may have been a little insensitive.

I wouldn't worry too much, it's only a tiny bit overweight but if she can see you and she is saying it, maybe she's right. I would have thought if it was your feet or something she could look at you and use common sense and say 'you're fine'. Then again, you never know, some professionals are incredibly unprofessional...

It depends. A bodybuilder would comfortably have a high BMI. All the BMI states is that this person weighs X amount in comparison to the average. But if you feel unhappy just change your liftestyle.

Ps. It has been proven to be inaccurate.

I'm about 10lb over my "healthy weight" acording to my BMI, but my waist to hip ratio is well in the healthy range, and my body fat percentage is towards the top end of healthy. So from that - I can deduce that you have to look at it all indevidually and make your own mind up. Also - how you feel about yur own appearence and body is important too, do you feel healthy? Are you happy? And you know humans are animals - we put on weight in the winter too! Coupled with your being on the pill, I'm sure your not in danger just yet.

All important points to concider! Chin up it'll all come right in the end!

Maybe you should should go for a body fat scan (DEXA). If your body fat percentage is 32% or higher, then you probably should drop some fat for the sake of your health. Also a 32 inch waist is a bit borderline even though you are tall.

Have you heard of a woman called Christina Hendricks? She is perfection in a woman, and she has larger measurements. She's in a show called Mad Men and it's the best t.v. show of the 2000's.

I wear a size 12UK on my bottom half so I know I'm not huge. And I have a large frame, my Waist to Hip ratio is 0.78, is this good or bad?

It's good - generally (there is a little discrepancy) anything below 0.80 is healthy. Mines 0.77 - so we're fine! :P

Sorry but if you weigh 80kg at that height you're definitely overweight (assuming you're not carrying lots of muscle and like 20% body fat..which is highly unlikely) and should lose fat for the sake of your health. I'm your height and when i was at 72kg some years ago, my all time highest weight, i felt miserable and fat. Now i'm 64kg and i feel much healthier and better about myself.. But then again if you don't want to lose weight, no one's gonna force you so i don't really know why you're asking us? I mean if you want to be healthier, do it, but if you don't care, then don't care.

You're a tiny bit shorter than me, but your BMI is the same as mine. I need to lose 10lbs to be a healthy BMI and this is probably the same as you as well. Assuming you don't have huge amounts of muscle mass, you could probably lose a couple of pounds. No real need to go on a huge health drive though. Small weight loss like this can be achieved just by changing tiny things about your lifestyle, such as getting off the bus a stop early, using stairs instead of lifts etc. Just make sure you don't eat more to compensate for the extra exercise!

EDIT: To all the people who've said "I'm sure you look fine" or something similar.. personally, I think that losing weight should be more about being healthy than looking good. While you might think that some bigger girls look nice, it doesn't mean that it's healthy to be that size. The BMI range is there for a reason. Being in the healthy range has proven health benefits.

In terms of actual health I am unsure,
But I will say in terms of attractiveness,
As the King Blues put it:
"You look best when you're comfortable in your own skin."
