Petition - Sprinkler Systems in Domestic Properties
This petition calls on the Government to review the current regulations with regards to the installation of sprinkler systems in new residential premises to ensure appropriate evidence is considered including the international evidence and experience of sprinkler systems, the likely impact on fire risk of an ageing population, the impact of sprinkler systems on firefighters and the environmental impact of a reduction in the size of fires.

Additional InformationThere is a wealth of evidence showing that sprinkler systems installed in domestic properties reduce the risk of death and serious injury in the event of a fire as well as reduce the risk to firefighters attending such incidents. This petition has been supported by the Chief Fire Officers' Association and others, who seek to raise awareness of the effectiveness of sprinkler systems in reducing fire deaths and injury, reducing the amount of water used by firefighters to control a fire, reducing environmental damage caused by fire, and reducing the economic cost of fire.

I would look up the admendment but I'm lazy so two questions.

    1) Doesn't it still have to be submitted via Nick?
    2) Don't you have to get various signatures before posting it? I mean isn't that the point of a petition? And it certainly wasn't passed just to gain signatures from people inside the house, it was to get signatures from people across TSR.

Nothing in the Guidance Document suggests that. It says that anyone can post a petition - but the Speaker may format it if it is not in accordance with the GD.

Its simply posted in the House and then debated and then voted on by MPs, by the sounds of things.

But wasn't the idea of petitions more for non-MP's and non members?
I'm not disagreeing with your submission, however I think that it would be a good opportunity to get more people involved, so you could withdraw it for now and post it elsewhere on TSR (like the politics section) to see if you can get some non members involved

Nothing disorderly has happened. I will send out an update this evening informing MPs of this petition.

I just can't see what legislation this encourages the Government to look at.
