Deloitte ACA vs Barclays ACA - Exit Opportunities -> Product Control?

Currently holding a Deloitte offer for tax, considering the Barclays FLDP ACA route....

In terms of exit opportunities, say into product control ...lets not talk about equity research or anything FO for now.

Which job role (post qualification) would make it easier for me to get into a bulge bracket IB's product control area? If they are both the same then I am guessing Barclays FLDP ACA programme should be better seeing as they pay heaps more.

In a bit of a dilemma, if anyone does know please advise.

If it pays more then go for BarCap - then transfer to PC. Simples.

I was asking to see which would give me a better chance in terms of moving into PC, as I know alot of other grads will be making the same move, from other Big4 and other Top10 practises, so I just wanted to know if I would be disadvantaged in terms of future employment if I were to come through barclays.

If you're qualifying in Tax then I'd say you're at the bottom of the pile of Big 4's newly qualified ACAs looking to move into MO/FO - there will be dozens of Audit & TS guys applying with more relevant experience.

Barclays all the way.

I'm actually a Product Control specialist at a recruitment company at the minute. Big 4 ACA Audit is what we usually look for, for people looking to break into PC. I've met up with hiring managers and from what I have heard, as long as you have ACA (first time passes usually), then you have a good chance of getting into BB PC.

Do you know what the pay is like in BB PC for big 4 ACAs, and whether or not the career is a dead end?

On temp side, £250-350/day dependent on experience, so about £55k+. I'm currently recruiting for a 1 year contract as a Commodities PC, it's pretty junior so only £38k. It's hard to get to FO from it, but I guess it is possible.

It's dependent on the company, and it's usually discretionary anyway so I wouldn't know.

Another question, do you reckon there is good chance to move into market risk from product control, especially if you work in FICC?

Question to you also if you don't mind, where can someone with Big4 Financial Services Tax expereince move into in industry? Seeing as auditors and others have a better chance in PC, surely Tax must have some advantages in other areas?

Would gaining my ACA in a small-firm rule me out of ever landing a job in product control?

Wouldnt have thought so. An ACA from anywhere is a huge plus, and enough to get you interviews, then its up to you to impress personality wise.
