Re: G4S 2012 Olympics JobNot true, you cant do some roles without one but depending on how you applied you can get an exemption from requiring it.(Original post by mmjacob9117)
WHAT! you can't work for g4s unless you have a sia license, what a joke. -
Re: G4S 2012 Olympics JobYou get paid on the 15th for the previous month(Original post by MandyA)
does anyone know when you get paid for training? some people got their money whilst being on training. they haven't paid me ****. did my training 3 weeks ago. is it because my sia application hasn't been processed? i know sia won't give me the training money until i do 5 shifts but what about the other ones? like role specific training and pedestrian screening day 1 and 2?

Re: G4S 2012 Olympics JobSemi-quit just going in when I get a convenient and achievable shift like some 6/7 hours one. The 12.5 hours don't work for me. It's a simple process though you just don't turn up(Original post by fedup_parent)
Has anyone quit yet?
Need to know the process please
I am fed up with subsidising G4S for my son to work for them.

A manager happend to be at the venue when I didn't turn up and he phoned me but not to tell me off just to know when I was coming back thats all he was interested not their poor treatment and my sheduling errors. I'm sure that was a one off though I haven't been back for a week with no contact. Oh and adding to that my schedule changes daily its hard to keep up.
I guess you could try one of the many helpline numbers don't email I tried that a week ago with no response. Remember we have a zero hour contract it states we do not have to go in. -
Re: G4S 2012 Olympics Job
I'm FUMING. I was told a few weeks ago that I don't need SIA training, as I am exempt due to obtaining the Bridging The Gap award. I've got my uniform and accredtiation pass, and I've had the role specific training, but no schedule. I emailed the Olympic scheduling team, and they emailed me back saying that the system shows I don't have an SIA license, and this is the reason for the delaying in scheduling me. Are you kidding me!??! I DON'T NEED SIA. I've got an email from the regional training team, confirming that I am exempt from any SIA training, as I got the job through BTG, and obtained a Level 2 BTEC award in Understanding Stewarding at Spectator Events?! What's the bloody HELL is going on? One minute I'm exempt, and the next, I'm being asked to produce a receipt of my SIA training, which I don't need!? Any help please?

Re: G4S 2012 Olympics Job
All these people complaining about things we knew months ago. We knew we needed an SIA. We knew we would have 12 hour shifts. We knew this was going to be stressful. I'm not bigging G4S up or anything because they've messed up a few times (i.e. I'm yet to receive a contract
), but my god people aren't helping themselves are they
!? I'm 18 and I've had to chase up A LOT, and I done it with no help; I've seen people twice my age complaining about things they knew they were getting themselves into.
Man up people, it's for 3 weeks max and you're getting £9.50 an hr.

Re: G4S 2012 Olympics JobIt's not about 'manning' up. It;s the fact a lot of us have been messed around by G4S, and have been told different things by different people. It's the lack of communication and certainty in answers, which have got people's backs against the wall, and rightly so. Congratulations on chasing your own case up, most of us have too? It's not about what we knew we were getting ourselves into, it's the pure lack of communication and utter confusing. Being told different things by different people is frustrating. Show a little respect maybe? People have been through such CRAP in this process. We knew it was going to be stressful, but we didn't know how poorly managed the whole process would be. If you don't have anything useful to contribute, maybe don't bother at all?(Original post by treeves)

Re: G4S 2012 Olympics JobIt's hard to show respect when I come on here to see people moaning and quitting because they don't want to work all these hours. What do you want to do, work a few hours, get paid, go home and watch some of the games? This is the security industry we are working in. It's a tough nature and all through my training I've been told that. I understand some people have been messed around, two of my friends in particular. This isn't aimed at the people who have been messed around. Employing 10k people is hard, and logic would tell you that the quality of service would go down. It's expected.(Original post by Jamielawrence1945)

Re: G4S 2012 Olympics JobWell I'm awfully sorry Mr Action man, who can manage to work all day every day without breaking a sweat, but some of us can't? There's a reason people chose the OPTION of part-time, and not full time? People who have asked to do part-time, are still being given a stupid amount of hours!? Yeah, we all know we'd have to work, but part-time is, working PART of the time, as the title suggests, and this is NOT what people are finding. Employing 10k of people is hard? Agreed, but they've had more than enough time to employ and train the correct amount of people. They're meant to be the biggest security company in the industry! Think about it, there are plans for G4S to privatize segments of the police, which would be more than 10k of people, if they can't do this... how can they manage the police? It's a hard task, but they are more than capable of delivering, especially as they had SO much time.(Original post by treeves)
