Re: G4S 2012 Olympics JobThe guy on the phone said to me he thinks it's £8.50 but wasn't sure, looking at my service agreement paper it says my payment rate is at £6.08 but during the olympics it will be guranteed at £8.50 minimum.(Original post by arno111)
The guy didnt know how much the pay is but i'm guessing that it will be less than security as its only stewarding. When they phone me back hopefully they will be able to tell me.
£6.08 an hour for 1 day job with a short notice and and that requires me traveling around london at 5am and adjusting my sleep patterns is (in my opinion) outrageously s**t, not to mention I will have to waste the first 2 hours earning back the money for my cheap black trousers bought for the job.
Hard times...
If it is at £8.50 which I thought it would be at because of the guy then yeah I would say its worth the trouble then.Last edited by Erazor; 29-05-2012 at 18:06. -
Re: G4S 2012 Olympics Job
Hi I have have passed the standard screening and vetting checks for G4S last week. I have been told my details will now be sent to London 2012 for accreditation, which is a further background check and this may take up to a number of weeks. Does anyone know how long this accreditation thing takes??? and do they contact you for SIA/Job training after you have passed the accreditation or before???? I also applied direct through G4S not BTG.
Thanks. -
Re: G4S 2012 Olympics Job
Im afraid I still cant give you any proper news other then what you know, G4S's admin is up its own hoop.
Ive told you about shifts and feeding arrangements, all venue specific.
I have been told that every member of G4s & BtG will be badged. I know this is impossible but this is what they tell me.
Most of the jobs will require a license, X-Ray, PSA, Search, Patrol etc so chase it up.
IF you get the chance to do venue specific training, take it, you should get paid for all training, If not I will strongly recommend you go talk to someone as you can be sure they will be charging for your presence, and lastly, I will try to come back with better news next time. -
Re: G4S 2012 Olympics Jobyeah i had the same, i agreed on it too am sure theres transport at that time ? and the guy told me that i was one of the first to be asked , it was still short notice but the pay rate is okay, £8 something and the other one to be confirmed, one uniformed to be conformed other shirt, black trouser and shoes and also i agreed for the wembley event..itll be a good experience might aswell get into the habit.(Original post by arno111)
I had a call today from g4s asking me if i wanted to work at the queens jubilee at battersea park on sunday. I said yeah okay and the guy said that they would contact me this week. He also said it was a 6am start. Ive just realised that tubes dont even run at that time so there is no way im going to be able to get to battersea for 6am on a sunday when im coming from essex!
Anyone else had a phone call about the queens jubilee. Would like to do it, hopefully they will be flexible on the start times.Last edited by niyaz93; 29-05-2012 at 22:34. -

For btg, who do you recomend to call, theres no getting in contact with these ghostsIm afraid I still cant give you any proper news other then what you know, G4S's admin is up its own hoop.

Probably the worst idea, given the traffic, the olympic bull**** lane, and where your going to park and if you find a place to park how much theyll charge!I wonder if it's worth getting a car for some of these shifts that might be on super early/late?Last edited by H.Maleki; 30-05-2012 at 13:54. -
Re: G4S 2012 Olympics Job
i'll be going to a training day at the training centre in pitchford street. i need to take some identity documents, and im planning on taking my phone and my wallet. is there a place to leave bags, or will i have to carry the bag with me at all times (in which case i will try and only carry essentials)?
-
Re: G4S 2012 Olympics JobThere's nowhere to store bags, so yes you'd have to carry it with you at all times.(Original post by ziigmund1)

Really? You mean, there's no off-peak times at all during the day?(Original post by GuitarWizard)
At the moment we have to pay for travel to the olympics and it is going to be peak rates all throughout the day

Re: G4S 2012 Olympics Job
Got an email today from BTG, although not really helpful tbh.
Dear Student,
Thanks for being part of the Bridging the Gap programme and for all of your hard work so far. We have less than 60 days to go until the opening ceremony of the London 2012 Olympic Games and would like to welcome you to Team G4S and explain what you can expect in the coming weeks.
Now that you have completed both your Door Supervision course and G4S interview you are ready for your final stages of training which will be delivered by G4S and will take place in London or a regional centre near you. Please make sure your contact details are up to date. If anything has changed please let us know on btgdeployment@uk.g4s.com or the call centre on 0203 535 2012 (quote reference BTG2&5).
Next steps for you in your journey to London 2012
You will receive a phone call from our call centre to confirm your availability for training and for us to check we have your most up-to-date personal details.
You will then be invited for further training to prepare you for your Games time role. This will take place at one of our regional training centres or in London.
You will then be sent the following:
Details of training information
Any transport or accommodation requirement details.
In order to continue to the next steps of your journey you must have completed the Door Supervisor course and passed a G4S interview. You also must be 18 or over by the 1st July.
Please note employment with G4S is subject to you completing the full training programme and passing the necessary screening and vetting and accreditation checks.
This is a once in a lifetime opportunity and we look forward to working with you as part of Team G4S.
Best wishes
Team G4S -

Re: G4S 2012 Olympics Job
Got an email stating the following:
'Please note G4S requires employees to be available for two different periods:
1. Training: from the 1st July onwards
2. Work deployment: between the 25th July until the 9th of September'
Don't know if it makes any difference, but they've got me down as x-ray. -
