Re: G4S 2012 Olympics Job15 p/h? Jesus. Well I got told dates in the survey, I had 11th of June for CCTV Training (the SIA Badge one) and then role specific was 18th June but it didn't say in the survey what it was...(Original post by cstewart91)
I got a call from a witheld number asking what dates suit me best for PSV training (anyine know what that is?) i asked the girl on the phone and she apologised but had no idea what it was either. i asked about cctv and she said they were still organising a venue so depending on the interest and venue they would select people from there. i reckon theyll just pick people closest to the venue to save them money. i sent the guy an email making it clear id be happy to travel to train for cctv (pay is £15p/h!) il keep you updated if i hear back mate

Re: G4S 2012 Olympics JobMy youthfulness served as a barrier for my progression into the role, which I was most disappointed about. I was about a month out(Original post by Prodigy)
Haha, fair play, I'm from Manchester mate. How's your application going. lol.

Enjoy it though, London 2012 will be good... don't know why you northerners are getting involved though
-
Re: G4S 2012 Olympics JobThere's roles in Old Trafford, and other Football Stadiums. I'll have to restrain from cutting up a bit of turf haha.(Original post by tj hughes)

Re: G4S 2012 Olympics JobBasically dress like you're about to see the headmaster.(Original post by ALazyThracian)
If you have piercings would you have to take them out?
(Forgot to ask in the interview)
imho it's probably best to take off the more 'unconventional' piercings out. Like snakebites and things like that which might seem boisterous. Anything that might affect the health and safety of you and others, or might offend some people of more conservative taste (or anyone for that matter) is best left out unless you have a genuine reason to wear it (like a hijab or something).
Bosses won't like someone dressing un-office-like so things like ear studs would be alright (if you're a woman, less so if you're a man) but ear-rings would be a "no-no". -
Re: G4S 2012 Olympics JobI have a scaffold, tragus and a stretched ear(Original post by grizzletheconquerer)

Re: G4S 2012 Olympics JobI really do i hope i can keep them but if i can't they'll all come out!(Original post by grizzletheconquerer)
It would be better if you could take it out for your job etc, but if you can't then leave it. It does largely depend on who you're dealing with.
Do you have any idea what a "Pre-Screening Assessment" is? I have to attend one before i go to london. Thanks for your help -
Re: G4S 2012 Olympics Job
I tried to look through some of this thread but there is a lot of it so these questions may have been answered before.
I'm starting the SIA training tomorrow. It was supposed to be in Glasgow but has now changed to Livingston with free transport which is still a bit of a pain. I applied directly through G4S and was just wondering what the situation with pay is? People are saying that I'll probably get paid for the SIA training but I assumed since they were paying for the course that I wouldn't get paid until the actual olympics training.
Also, when it says you have to be available from the 1st of July, how important is that. We have a big family holiday booked and I wont be back till the 6th. Should I tell them or just see how it goes?
And, how does getting the badge work? I know they're paying for the training but do we still have to buy the badge ourselves or is that also paid for?
Cheers. -
Re: G4S 2012 Olympics JobI have just completed the SIA training, we had to go to Livingston as well. But they did provide a free lunch. At the training we got told our roles and got further role specific training.(Original post by Tote Katze)

In terms of pay you only get minimum wage for training - £6.08 p/h. You will not get paid until you complete five shifts, there is no guarantee that G4s will give you five either. When the Olympic work starts you will get paid £8.50 p/h.
G4s pay for your SIA licence and the training course. If you did not complete five shifts, G4s will recovering these costs from your training pay.
From the 1st of July that is when everything starts to fall into place. G4s is responsible for the hotels and training grounds, so people will need to be available pre-games for work, I would let them know if there is dates you can't do.
