Re: G4S 2012 Olympics Job
Had an interview yesterday. Queued for almost 3 hours for a 10 minute interview. Thankfully they told me I'd passed so they'll send my documents off to be screened.
Does anyone know if this means I'll get a job? The interviewer told me that they had to screen all my stuff and do a background check before giving me a job offer, but I'm still slightly confused. -
Re: G4S 2012 Olympics Jobhaha! I sat in the queue for nearly 4 1/2 hours!(Original post by Lintu93)

I was getting bored and was tempted to leave after about 1 hour, had convinced myself I wouldn't pass the interview. Hmm my interview was up in Glasgow, might explain why it was shorter. -
Re: G4S 2012 Olympics Job
I got a G4S job, I attended my interview in december, surprisingly at the same venue as you OP. But anyway I succeeded, they called me up last month telling me I had to attend a session in Canary Wharf for X-ray training, it was on a computer with an assessment at the end, if you failed the assessment it wouldn't be the end of the world since G4S have other jobs available to you for the olympics. But I passed the assessment so I'm going to be called up to attend a full on x-ray training course in the upcoming weeks.

Re: G4S 2012 Olympics JobProvided your background was clean and all your documents were legit I see no reason why you shouldn't get the job, I did. My interviewer even told me I failed the interview but I was still successful in gaining a place. Good luck(Original post by Lintu93)

Re: G4S 2012 Olympics JobNo I haven't, but for these olympic jobs provided by G4S you don't need an SIA license since they're only temporary. If I wanted to work after the olympics then I would pay for one. Although you need to do a training course before you're even allowed to pay for an SIA license, and I done a 4 day door supervision course last month as well, so provided I passed that, all I'd have to do then is pay £220 for the license.(Original post by niyaz93)

Re: G4S 2012 Olympics JobYeah thats the course i am talking about, Door Supervision, i done that a few weeks ago they informed us that if we fail we get to resit it if not, they contact us regarding our roles and role training, and from what g4s said to us was that they will pay for our license all we have to do is attend the first 5 shifts..it even states it on the contract you signed when doing the four day course. I guess im just waiting for the update on what role am getting and the training if needed, well i hope.(Original post by Ice Constricter)

Re: G4S 2012 Olympics Job
I Did a course back last year in security, I got loads of certificates.
I took them with me to g4s interview, they weren't really interested.
I'm 18 in May, which i will be applying straight for a SIA License.
Anybody have a phone number for G4S 2012 Recruitment? I Shall give them a call and see if anything is wrong

Re: G4S 2012 Olympics JobDamn, I wish I'd known all this before yesterday when I had my interview, since I wasn't expecting some of the stuff we had to do. And I can't believe how flipping long it all took! And there's still a chance we might not get it anyway(Original post by oiMr)
Update:
as long as you dress smart, you don't need to where suite and tie, but remember that first impressions do count!
Process for London:
Initial Registration - Document checks, Make sure your passport is Valid, or take FULL birth certificate. Bank Statement in last Month dated.
Interview (maybe group of 2) :
Sight Test - can you read the letters on the sheet (basic opticians test)
Smell Test - identify the liquid in a cup.. (used for sniffing out drunks, petrol.. stuff like that at the games)
Conflict History - explain a time when you resolved a conflict, and what actions you took.
Photograph - Your photo is taken
Document Check (Final) - you will finish your application here, walk through your application form and fill in the blanks.
Finished!
Background Check - this can take upto 12 Weeks.
Overall Time at Interview Day - 3-4 Hours (Based on London where it was packed and the queue was big!)
Good Luck!
. Fingers crossed for everyone though
A bit silly how they wouldn't accept my driving licence card as proof of address, as I need the counterpart as well for some reason
. So I'm gonna have to go back to the place soon with it because of incomplete ID.

Re: G4S 2012 Olympics Job
Went for my interview yesterday and was successful but the actual interview was around 10 minutes and the document checking was 5 minutes and final detail checking when you get the job was 10 minutes although was there for 3 hours just waiting it takes so long. Just make sure you have all your documents so you don't have to go back and just fill in the entire application because if you haven't done it they make you go to a computer before you can join the que.
Just not sure what role I will be given and what really happends next in regards to training -
Re: G4S 2012 Olympics JobDont think about the role now lol, you got a long wait mate, going through vetting can take up to 12 weeks then if you dont have a SIA license, you have to take a 4 day course to get that then theyll contact you regarding role and further training.(Original post by GuitarWizard)

Re: G4S 2012 Olympics JobDon't you go on an SIA training course depending on what role you wan't to do? So after vetting they should ask you about the role to put you on the right training(Original post by niyaz93)

Re: G4S 2012 Olympics JobEveryone has the standard Level 2 in Door supervision and physical intervention qualification/training regardless of what role you are given. Pass the course and you'll get your temp SIA license. I was called to do my training before I had my interview. Now just waiting on confirmation on whether I passed both. Then I might get specialist training afterwards.(Original post by GuitarWizard)
