Re: G4S 2012 Olympics Job
I'm on guard duty in Stratford. My role consists of standing by a gate all day asking people to show their ID when they go past. On a 12 hour shift you get two 30 minute breaks and one 60 minute break for lunch. Shifts tend to start at either 6:30am or pm and finish 12 hours later.
On the plus side, I'm getting paid £10 an hour to essentially do nothing all day, but I tell you the day drags on forever; I feel like I've done a week in a day. -
Re: G4S 2012 Olympics Jobnyone to talk to? And do you have your phone on you, and can check it or do they forbid that?(Original post by Terminator7t)

Re: G4S 2012 Olympics Jobah you might of noticed my group of 7 who where there most of the day waiting around to hear what was going on with us. Quite a lot of the guys from g4s heard about us by the end of the day. Was an absolute joke today.(Original post by Terminator7t)

oh gosh. This is the role I have been given. I'll be attending training on friday... Not looking forward to those 6.30pm - 6.30am shifts.
Do you get a partner or anyone around you to talk to at least?
edit: actually I'm not looking forward to any of those shifts!! both times are terribleLast edited by yennibubs; 02-07-2012 at 22:31. -
Re: G4S 2012 Olympics JobHow was your PSA training i have that soon. Also getting the acrediation which should be interesting. Well money is money sadly it doesn't grow on trees. Though i'm more worried about the hours tbh i wish i can work 12 hours at night.(Original post by Claped)
I've done my PSA Training, you do ever role.. which sucks. It's like a roater, 20 minutes each. You become the greeter, searching, bag searcher or the person on the metal detector.
Im dreading doing this job.. but hey, money!
Wait a minute you become all of those roles! No way so for each person be the greeter, then the searcher, then the bag searcher, and then the person with the metal detector. Oh my thats a lot. But still experience of all kinds. -
Re: G4S 2012 Olympics JobHey well i would not mind doing that for being a scary looking person then to meet and greet and do the searches on everyone who comes through.(Original post by Terminator7t)

How long after doing the SIA training did you get that email? I did my SIA the week beginning 18th June.(Original post by Lasuil)
How do you know your SIA license tracking number to check your application?
I was sent an email from SIA saying they were processing my application. The number was in the email.

Re: G4S 2012 Olympics Job
Erazor, that is really bad. The smokers break sounds a bit like Discrimination in the workplace. Also 84 hours is a lot I'm trying to get my 75 hours decreased to the 48 hours I signed up to but don't think I will get it changed. If not I'm not working 12hr x 6 days a week. I'll do the 5 shifts also and leave.

I did SIA training from 5th to 8th March. It took 15 weeks for screening checks to be completed and then my application was sent to SIA. -
Re: G4S 2012 Olympics Jobdont even start on that might aswell give you the story of what happened to my group yesterday. We all got emails at 9pm saying we have to be at stratford for 6am to pick up uniforms and not to worry about accreditation. This was after a call saying get to lords cricket ground for 7am. We where told in the email transport is to be provided.(Original post by sy_1)
they must think they're really really funny. just got a text telling me to be at Stratford for 6.30am tomorrow morning. thanks for the heads up!
We all turned up nice and early, got into the building around about 06:10, they tried to process us however not one of us was in the system for them. A few calls got made didnt get very far. Long story short we where sent all around London from different venues to pick uniform/accreditation up or to start work to end up back at stratford waiting for a call to come through to say where we were meant to start. We eventually got our PPE and the call at about 16:00 (after waiting around for a good couple of hours with no info) saying we are getting paid for the day and to go to horse guards at 0630 today.
Must say the guys at stratford where incredibly good in trying to help getting us a cab to places. Its just somewhere up the food chain a massive ***k up occurred.
Sorry if this doesnt make much sense have just woken up -
