Is anyone heading down to Romford street tomorrow? Dont know what to wear, believe I have the appropriate documents. Other than that, what is the accreditation pass and how do you get it? - or do you receive it after all training is complete.

With I would receive emails about FACTS and DETAILS rather than stupid emails about customer service and how to constantly smile, ***k me I know how to treat people in the right manner I just want to know JOB DETAILS

You should have a login number and password at the bottom to login to an intranet for the Olympics: this has all those files just under slightly different names, it won't be that exact name but it will be obvious which of the files that relates to cos it will in the format of a covering letter. This also has the SIA distance learning document on it

If you're going to Romford road for SIa, don't expect any information about your actual job: the guys that provide the SIA training are not g4s, just contracted to do the training and won't know what job you're gonna be in. Your PSA day 1 will be sitting down learning about the Olympics and threats etc, second day will be practical doing practice searches techniques, using hand held metal detectors and practicing all the different roles of the PSA lanes. I did this about 2 weeks ago. Is funny cos there is about 1 woman to every 5-6 men, all the women at my training had to practice searching a lot more than any men!

The secure tax website? Ok I have that, so should I print of the SIA confirmation letter? Although, tomorrow I am completing the PSA/OSA Screener (Bag Loader, Pacer, EAC Operator) training, but should I print of the welcome pack aswell and just bring everything along

If you've got it, print the letter you got by email with your training schedule on as you'll need it to get into the Stratford training centre. You'll also need some photo ID to sign in. Romford Road documents are only for/about SIA training.

Smart casual: a lot of people wore dark jeans and a suit shirt and jacket, that'll be fine. And wear comfy stuff for second day, you'll be doing a lot of moving around. They didn't really look at what people were wearing or care: saw a few guys in track suits and no one cared! But good impression count so don't turn out like a slob

To everyone who has been ****ed over by these delightful people they have officially offered a half hearted apology!
    I just got an email from them saying;
    Dear Student,

Since the letter and FAQ’s were sent out last weekend, the G4S BtG relationship staff have been inundated with queries ranging from, ‘when will I know my start date’ to ‘what accommodation is being provided’.

The thirst for information is understandable both from a student and parent perspective therefore this letter and the expanded FAQ’s attached are in response to the calls and emails received thus far.

The auto scheduling system that notifies you of your role and venue by email to which you must respond, was to go live at the weekend but suffered a technical hitch. This is being resolved and work schedules including venue are now being sent in a phased manner.

Many people have also asked about transport, accommodation and claiming expenses therefore the ‘Team G4S Guide for BtG Students’ will answer all of those questions and more.

In recent days a number of BtG students have been contacted to start work at short notice. This is due to uplifts in the requirements at certain venues. Such rapid deployment is unusual and G4S very much appreciates the effort made by many who responded. If you are asked to be part of the rapid deployment then make sure you read through the Guide to ensure you are well prepared.

G4S does appreciate your patience whether that is trying to get through to the call centre, awaiting a reply by email or trying to obtain information. We are doing as much as we can on an hourly basis to expand the call centre and get information out to you.

Lastly, I know many of you welcomed the support by the G4S BtG Relationship Team during the interview stages in each college. They are equally disappointed that their hard work and enthusiasm to see you take up the opportunity has not been reflected in a smooth journey for you. There is no excuse if we have not done enough to help you along the journey so far but we are determined to do more so that in the end you will be able to look back on some very good memories of your involvement as a security officer during the Games.

    Yours sincerely

    Team G4S

I applied for about 50 jobs had about 6 interviews throughout my two years of college but never got employed once! (Well, I did get close with sainsbury's, but I declined because they were asking me to do 6pm-10pm EVERYDAY as well as doing 4 a-levels at college...) D:

I'm actually excited to start paid work for the first time!

But yeah, hopefully when I go to uni in September I get a permanent job!
