Re: "I got an offer from Oxford for 2012 and now I want to chat!!!!" thread
I know it's probably pointless to post in this thread but does anyone think that there may be a possibility (regardless of how small!) that Oxford may accept me if I don't meet my offer of AAA due to extenuating circumstances? I have already convinced myself there is no chance that they would by the way, so you won't be able to disappoint me further :P

Re: "I got an offer from Oxford for 2012 and now I want to chat!!!!" threadThere is a small possibility. It depends on your college and tutors, also on whether they have made open offers for your subject. If you do not make the grades on results day it is worth calling them and making your case. But if you have not yet taken your exams, or all of them, might your extenuating circumstances be taken into account by your exam boards?(Original post by Unconventional.)

Re: "I got an offer from Oxford for 2012 and now I want to chat!!!!" threadYeah, I have been accepted for special considerations by AQA so hopefully that will be a big help if I am near to grade boundaries. I think the maximum that they can give is a 5% increase and they decide whether they're going to give you any increase after all of your exams have been marked. They look at them all individually and if you're very close to a grade boundary then they may give a couple of percent increase so that you can be in the next grade band. However, you don't actually find out if they have given you any or not.(Original post by Festina lente)

Oxford will actually already be aware of my special circumstances though because they are health issues and I have recently sent my GP's letter to them along with the completed disability form.
It's possible that I am greatly under-estimating my performance in exams (I usually do) and perhaps I'll pull off a miracle and meet the offer...but it seems unlikely! I suppose I will just have to wait and see what happens really. -
Re: "I got an offer from Oxford for 2012 and now I want to chat!!!!" threadI'm upgrading high school maths to meet my offer.. Don't get me wrong, I love maths - just not 40 hours a week for 5 weeks over the best part of summer - 9th of July through August 10th.. I think you have to love maths more than life to enjoy that..(Original post by Brand New Eyes)
Maths is great!
What Maths are you doing? I think they run a Maths type thing for PPE-ers/EM who haven't done maths.

seriously? Are you planning to cover relevant A level topics? I think it's mostly differentiation and integration, exponentials which are relevant and statistics, normal distributions

Nearly finished law revision for the exam on Friday, then I just want to go over a bit of FP2 and French. Decided to leave out voluntary manslaughter except for learning the basics for potential section C questions, because for some reason the case names just slip through my head for that ONE topic.
