Re: "I got an offer from Oxford for 2012 and now I want to chat!!!!" threadFair enough; do you regret it?(Original post by TheatreLovely)
Partly because I have a job working at a hotel in Germany and have to start two days before the prom, but also because I really haven't enjoyed the social/community aspect of sixth form.
Why didn't you go to yours KingMessi?
I was on holiday in Zante.
Apparently I didn't miss much, but I'm sure that it would have been preferable to being in Zante...

What happened in Zante?
My friends won't go on a holiday despite all my efforts to convince them.

Re: "I got an offer from Oxford for 2012 and now I want to chat!!!!" threadIt just wasn't really my thing. I'm teetotal and had a girlfriend by the time we went so that rather negates the point of going.(Original post by medbh4805)

We were there for ten days and it essentially followed this pattern: Leave the apartment at midnight, club until six, sleep until three and repeat. Hugely tedious after the fourth or fifth day.
What are their reasons for not going? -
Re: "I got an offer from Oxford for 2012 and now I want to chat!!!!" threadFair enough. If you aren't in it for the drinking or casual sex Zante probably wouldn't be worth it(Original post by KingMessi)

Well one was really up for it (my drinking buddy)What are their reasons for not going?
, but the others - lack of money, worried about not being able to persuade their parents, and the other was very nervous about going out of the country on her own, despite my efforts to reassue her

I loved being away with friends, but ten days of constant clubbing and little of much else would have wearied me even if I was a drinker/casual sex aficionado, I think...Also my best friend and I had fallen out, so sharing an apartment was less-than-ideal.
That's understandable. I mean, we had to settle for the most cheap, rubbish accommodation to make it affordable for us, so I can completely see why that's an issue. It's a shame, though: being away with friends is a very nice experience.(Original post by medbh4805)

Re: "I got an offer from Oxford for 2012 and now I want to chat!!!!" threadIndeed. I spent three days at a friend's house a few months ago ((Original post by KingMessi)

) and I needed about a week's rest to recover from it - being around other people 24/7 is very tiring....
ooohhh...yeah I can see that being very awkward. Did you each have your own rooms though, or did you double up?

I'm sure it is

No, in all seriousness, even when I went to see my girlfriend at university, I found it rather tiring to be interesting for that length of time with one person.
Oh, it was - we didn't (and still haven't) exchanged a word since. Rather childish, if you ask me. We had separate rooms, but, still...
There will, I'm sure, be other opportunities for you to go on holiday...

Re: "I got an offer from Oxford for 2012 and now I want to chat!!!!" threadAlas, the curse of the introvert. I enjoy socialising and so on but it's so damn tiring!(Original post by KingMessi)

one needs time to be alone....
I can imagine, I find that sometimes when I'm staying at my friend's house or he's staying at mine...usually I stock up on DVDs etc in case we run out of things to talk about

do you still have mutual friends though? could see that being v awks

Re: "I got an offer from Oxford for 2012 and now I want to chat!!!!" thread(Original post by Niki_girl)
ergh. Started exams yesterday, and it was suuposed to be one of my "easier" papers, if you know what I mean. I panicked slightly and messed up the timing (also, the lady took ages to find me more paper to write on) so that I didn't haven't time to read over my answers....
Every minute that goes by I think of possible spelling/punctuation/ grammar mistakes I could have made...not to mention the fact that a relatively "easy" essay came up, but since it was the 3rd essay I wrote, my brain was so frazzled that I wrote some really bizarre points, rather than the ones that I had prepared.
Stupid brain
By the way, it doesn't matter if you write on extra paper in an exam, and write your details and attach it, does it? I mean, I wrote the conclusion to 2 seperate questions on the same sheet of A4, but as long as I wrote the question no. and part by each one, they will still read it, right?
Oh God. If I'm like this now, what am I going to be like after my "hard" exams, waiting for results...?
Which exam paper was it? I'm sure it was okay in the end. I'm scared I'm basically going to be like this in my English exam. But on the upside, you'll probably be pleasantly surprised on your results from this and least it won't be one of those exams where you think you've done really well..but haven't (those are the worst)

Re: "I got an offer from Oxford for 2012 and now I want to chat!!!!" threadTheology Unit 3/ my first paper of A2. I'm hoping the timing and stuff just messed up because it was my first exam of this year and I freaked out.(Original post by Chaofan88)

I have a worrying feeling that I may follow suit with both my History and English lit. papers, and then I'd really be in trouble
I have another Theology paper in 2 weeks though, so I guess I'll just start preparing like crazy for that one now, and my History exam, which is first, on the 12th of June
I really hope I'm pleasantly surprised on Result's Day! Either that or I'll be inconsolable...on the plus side I never think that I've done well in exams!
Good luck for all your exams, especially English! I presume that's English lit. on the 20th of June? I'm doing that exam too, it's my last one, and although I'm neglecting it in favour of History/Theology at the moment, it's my motivation because then I will be finished!

Re: "I got an offer from Oxford for 2012 and now I want to chat!!!!" threadYou did a lot of subjects!(Original post by sosotalk)
Random question. Did everyone get all 'A's in their AS??
I had ABBBC so I had to work my butt of during January.
What subject are you doing?
I got AAAA at AS, but I'm still worried about getting AAA this year
did you get what you wanted in January?
Good luck

I've done half of my A2 exams; I have the rest over the next few weeks. Stress XD
Also distracting myself by trying to find out where the swimming pools are in Oxford. -

I just go on TSR to get distracted
, I haven't done anything half as practical as look at facilities in Oxford yet, because I still only feel 50% confident in meeting my offer, my first exam the other day didn't go as well as I wanted (see previous posts, lol, I'm a real worrier with exams!)

Re: "I got an offer from Oxford for 2012 and now I want to chat!!!!" threadI have two Philosophy exams left as well as a Religious Studies exam. I think I've done alright on the exams so far but with essay subjects you can never really tell. *sigh*(Original post by Niki_girl)

It's normal to be nervous I think! -
Re: "I got an offer from Oxford for 2012 and now I want to chat!!!!" threadHaha no, I got AAABC but the C was in a subject I need an A/A* in(Original post by sosotalk)
Random question. Did everyone get all 'A's in their AS??

I'm aiming for the A*...I don't think too unrealistic and the other subject I need an A*/A but most likely A* (complicated) was a solida A last year but my isa went so badly I need practically 100% to bring it up to an A* this year
((
Basically, the subject I'm most likely to get an A* in is English which is the subject I don't need an A* in
