Do I have a chance for Oxbridge,UCL or LSE for Econ
Hi I am gonna apply next year for L100 or L101 for economics I was just wondering if I have a chance with these type of grades in GCsE: UMS given
    1. English B (72)
    2. Indonesian A (84)
    3. Mathematics A (87)
    4. Physics A (87)
    5. Chemistry A* (99)
    6. Biology A* (96)
    7. Economics A* (92)
    8. ICT A (85)
I am doing International Baccaleureate and teachers are saying I may he predicted a 40 or above equivalent to A*,A*,A in A levels I m also taking A levels in 2 subjects as a private candidate, and also taking (SAT 1 & 2, indian standard 12 and Ielts) as these are compulsory in my school. So if I achieve high grades in all of these qualifications which my teachers are saying that I can as I am a good student will I have a chance fo econ in Oxbridge, UCL or LSE?

Yeah why not, I'm not an expert on the top tier universities but I'm pretty sure they're more worried about your AS levels and personality anyway. GCSEs are important but I wouldn't let them rule your life or anything, if you think you're capable of doing it then go for it

3 A* only for LSE is tough. Wait for AS results first.

Your IB looks fine... but there is a weakness. Like A Level Maths, the upper tier of the IB isn't going to be seen as at a high enough level for the course in Engineering at either Oxford or Cambridge: they normally would like students to be comfortable with a minimum of the A Level equivalent of Core 3 and core 4 maths, and Mechanics 1 and Mechanics 2 papers. A candidate who has these and has extra maths will be realistic for the Engineering course. Cambridge Economics is effectively a maths course and again, maths beyond HL maths would be an advantage. Statistically, the Economics course at Oxford is the hardest to get on (at least applicants per place!) Despite what was said above, you would be totally viable for LSE Economics as the expected offer for next year is 38 points on IB.

Don't listen to this guy. HL maths is more than enough when it comes to applying to a maths based course. It's only if you take SL maths you'd most likely have to take A level maths on he side.

LOL... at least I work with the Universities mentioned so do have rather a hot line to the respective departments.
