Re: The Arsenal Thread XIOh ok(Original post by milkytea)
Djourou went off with a back injury, I believe.
I still think losing Diaby had the biggest effect during that match. -

Re: The Arsenal Thread XIWell obviously going down to 10 men made it hard, but our defence with Djourou in was easily capable of holding the lead. As soon as he went off we struggled to compete in the air and were generally a mess at the back.(Original post by Darth Vader 7)
Oh ok
I still think losing Diaby had the biggest effect during that match.
This season, Djourou has been pretty bad, especially in big games. However, I think that can be attributed mostly to his being played out of position and our general ****e-ness in the first matches. If you check some of the posts in this Soc from mid to late last season we were mostly rating him as our best CB, at least while Vermaelen was out. Hence why I think he's a good backup. I think he could probably regain the form he showed before if he has a run of games in the right position. It would nevertheless be terrible if Kos was injured, but most teams struggle if they lose a first choice defender.Last edited by milkytea; 15-03-2012 at 16:48. -
Re: The Arsenal Thread XI
Someone's edited Chamakh's Wiki entry to say he was born in Exeter.

"Chamakh was born in Exeter, in Devon, to Moroccan parents, and was raised in the nearby commune of Aiguillon. His father, El Mostafa Chamakh, was a former footballer in Morocco and played for Difaâ Aïn Sbaâ in Casablanca....." -

Re: The Arsenal Thread XIIf we wanted another lazy striker in our team we could just recall bendtner from his loan(Original post by antonfigo)
Hypothetically, would any of you have Berbatov in our team?

Re: The Arsenal Thread XI
So Mertesacker's season is over, while Wilshere, Santos, Diaby and Coquelin are all supposedly progressing well. The last is meant to be just two weeks from full fitness; I hope he gets a couple of games before the end of the season.

Re: The Arsenal Thread XIDoes anyone remember the game in which Tiote basically kept Cesc out of the game? I'm not saying Rosicky is better than Cesc or anything stupid like that but this vid helps to show how intelligent he can be in the middle of the park to really help our fluency against tough teams like Newcastle.(Original post by IWantSomeMushu)

Park given compulsory military service reprieve: http://tinyurl.com/7wf2c77 Now he's got at least 10 years to break into the 1st team.

Re: The Arsenal Thread XIWe've won 3 games on the spin under a new manager including a match where we were heavy favourites not to qualify. We'll stroll past leicester. Lets see the man city match first before you say anything.(Original post by Catilina)
Aside from the rivalry between Arsenal and Tottenham there´s no real difference between finishing 3rd or 4th anyway, 2 more games in order to qualify for the CL, but let´s be honest even the best teams in the play offs shouldn´t be too much trouble for Arsenal. Udinese were an exception, usually you get opponents like Bate Borisov or Viktoria Pilsen.
PS: I think Chelsea are just too inconsistent to finish in the top 4. -

Milan draw Barcelona in the Champions League quarter-finals.
Good job we didn't go through now.
I was hoping for that.
